Honours well deserved!
Graeme Thom AFSM
Speaker ( + MC, Mentor, Media commentator). Leadership leading to success through Wisdom.
Congratulations, well done, well deserved.
For my fellow International Linked-in followers, Australia Day is a day that recognises the desire of the people of our nation to come together and recognise and celebrate our past achievements, our current culture, our capacity and the contributions of many to the better part of our nature, the land and our community. Today, the 26th January is Australia Day. One of the great things I love about Australia day (irrespective of whatever day it is/will be held on), is that it is a day to recognise many of our fellow Australians who have made such an enormous contribution to our culture, society and our success as a nation.
My congratulations to all recipients in the 2020 awards. Recognising two people in particular in this mornings honours list gave me great pleasure.
First, a fellow Firefighter and friend Greg Duncan (Australian Fire Service Medal - AFSM). If ever there was a firefighter, a leader and one of the coolest human beings worth being around and aspiring to be like, its Greg. Greg Duncan epitomises, for me, what the best in being a firefighter is all about. For many years I have spoken about the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service's (QFES) 'Badge of Honour' incorporating all the elements of wisdom, courage, overcoming the elements, integrity and service to the community. All those elements come together in the character of Greg Duncan, Well done and well deserved mate.
Second, a fellow Professional Speaker and friend Lindsay Adams (Member of the Order of Australia - OAM). In every tribe, village and community there is always only a few that see the big picture, that see that we are one, and that together we are stronger. Therefore these people are always willing to give of their wisdom and, more importantly, their time that belongs to them alone. Lindsay is one of those few. His contribution of shared knowledge, wisdom and his time throughout the world is vast. Congratulations Lindsay, well done and well deserved.
Cheers.
