In Honour of Iiro′s Memory

We have very unfortunate and sad news. Iiro Lindborg, the Founding Member and Vice President of Groke Technologies, has passed away.

Honouring Iiro′s memory, we would like to look back on his important contributions at Groke.

View to the future

Iiro had a great view on future technology trends and his technology roadmaps and requirement analysis were in core of the company′s strategies as well as his close contacts with customers. He brought big insights about the marine industry and especially about steps towards autonomy. He was invited to give many lectures and speeches nationally and internationally, such as Bari Ship online seminar in 2021, at the MIT Symposium in 2021 and Autonomous Ship Expo in Amsterdam 2022. He always had insight and visionary ideas on how to make future autonomy happen. He wrote several articles to raise discussions and views on autonomy and the way forward.

?Marketing

We made great success when we held the Launch event for our product, Groke Pro in May 2022 with a big contribution from Iiro. With more than 250 people attended ?to our launch event designed by Iiro, we started off from the story of how Groke was founded, the technical details of the system, and how it would benefit our customers. Our first ever Groke Pro product presentation in an event was in Sea Japan, held in April 2022. Although Iiro was not there, it was thanks to him that we had a spectacular exhibition stand, where hundreds of?people stood by to see our Groke Pro in action.

Branding

Creating a strong brand was one of Iiro’s strengths. The company logo and brand was actually also transformed from what it was in the beginning of our journey, to what it currently is today. Our company brand stands for our values, calm, reliable, empowering and trustworthy and human-centered but passionate about technology, was created by Iiro and reflecting his visions and persona too. Iiro had a strong experience and vision of autonomous solutions, being part of presenting the worlds first autonomous ferry.
