Honour The Earth

We look forward to advancing into the new year 2024 with the help of the small #trampoline like steps we created in 2023. All this was possible with Team Hedrad, our partners, mentors, educators, fellow entrepreneurs and our clients.

Here are some of our steppingstones…

#Farmhouses and #Resorts: We built a beautiful farmhouse of almost 2000 sft in the beginning of this year. The entire construction was done in 45 days.

#Terracerooms: A beautiful yet functional HAM Radio station was built on the second floor of a building and is being effectively used by the HAM operator. This was made possible by the connect given by @UrbanInsight, a #turnkey #interiors company.

#Educational Institutions: We did a record number of internal walls and partitions in colleges such as SRM and A M Jain in Chennai with our partner Mahi Infomedia. St. Joseph’s School in Bangalore also have Hedrad’s internal walls in 5 classrooms.

Thyagu Valliappa Valliappa of the Sona Group of Institutions had us building rooms and internal walls in their colleges. This has laid the foundation for multiple projects.

#Commercial Buildings: #Hedrad panels were used to build cabins at co-working spaces in Bangalore at a record pace.

#Marketing Office: Madurai saw us train the staff of Supradeep Builders to construct their 2500 sft marketing office. The whole office was built within a period of 10 weeks, which included manufacturing the panels, training and construction.

#Thermalinsulation: 2023 saw us building insulation panels – both wall and ceiling - in dormitory rooms near Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh using Agribio boards and Magra felt. We achieved a #thermal insulation of 20 degrees Celsius (outside temperature was -5 and inside temperature was +15!)! This has grabbed the attention of a certain sector (details follow after approval)!

#Collaborations: Our partnership with STRAWCTURE ECO Shriti Pandey and Samakhya Sustainable Alternatives prerna agarwal with expert Manu Sharma have got us working with truly sustainable materials. #Agribio boards are made with agricultural waste while #Magra is made from waste sheep wool and camel hair.

#Mentorship: The company has been incubated at NSRCEL IIMB with the incubation partner being Kerala Startup Mission (#KSUM). I am being mentored by the best of the best. Many seeds have been sown during this process, one of which being the development of #dismantlable buildings. Another offshoot of this research is #DIY buildings of standard sizes and designs. This will give rise to multiple used cases in so many sectors which excites us a lot. My fellow incubates have been such an inspiration with their incredible ideas, their journeys and their sheer doggedness to make a mark in their field.

#Networking Groups: Being a part of WiREnet World (Women in Real Estate Network), @TRW Global (The REAL Women), TiE Bangalore (The Indus Entrepreneurs), RICS South Asia , and The Real Women Global community have put me in touch with the best in the real estate industry and other industries. They provide me a forum to build awareness of the Hedrad sustainable construction material. The advice that I get from many stalwarts in this group is unparalleled.

Besides Hedrad panels being lightweight yet, load bearing and quick to build using minimum precious resources such as sand, water and people, they have proven to be good for the #environment. The fact that the materials used are extremely #carbon friendly, they also reduce #operational carbon emissions as they are #thermally insulating. The amount that goes into #landfills during construction is near zero. We have, with Hedrad panels, ticked all the points that @UNEP has suggested to reduce #carbon emissions and #energy consumption - 40% of that is being contributed by the construction sector.

We have started the process of getting certifications to prove how #green and #sustainable Hedrad panels are. The process of doing the #Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) has begun with Monk Spaces doing the needful. Thereafter, we will get the #GreenPro certification process started for our product.

We discovered that the demand for these panels can be met only if we stick to manufacturing and, therefore, began the process of training carpenters and contractors on how to build using these panels. Collaborations and multiple manufacturing units in various districts will enable us to grow.
