Honoring Veterans Day: Supporting Veterans in Their Transition with MedTechVets
MedTechVets
Helping military Veterans transition and find a career with purpose in the Medical Technology Industry
As we approach Veterans Day, we reflect on the invaluable contributions made by our veterans and the unique challenges they face as they transition to civilian life. Many veterans bring incredible leadership, adaptability, and problem-solving skills developed through years of military service. Yet, this transition can be challenging, with veterans often encountering a significant gap between military and civilian careers. Organizations like MedTechVets are bridging that gap, providing essential support, resources, and career pathways to help veterans succeed in the MedTech industry.
The Transition Challenge
For the nearly 200,000 veterans transitioning from military service every year, the adjustment to civilian work life can feel daunting. According to recent studies, 84% of veterans struggle to network with employers, and 81% face challenges in translating their military skills to civilian roles. These obstacles can result in unemployment periods lasting four months or longer for over 53% of veterans, underscoring the importance of targeted support programs to help ease their transition.
How MedTechVets Supports Veterans
MedTechVets is dedicated to supporting veterans through two powerful programs designed to address these challenges and create pathways into the MedTech, Life Sciences, and Pharma industries.
We're proud to have served 181 Veterans since the Fall of 2020, with 95% of our Veteran's finding a job in Med Tech within 6 months of graduating our programs.
Why Support Matters
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, MedTechVets relies on donations to continue offering these programs at no cost to veterans. Every dollar received goes directly toward supporting our mission to empower veterans in their journey to a successful civilian career. By providing veterans with training, mentorship, and a strong support network, we are investing in their futures and helping them overcome the unique challenges of transitioning to civilian life.
Veterans possess skills that are invaluable to the workforce, including leadership, dedication, and problem-solving. Supporting veterans in their transition not only honors their service but also enriches the companies and industries they join. A MedTechVets study shows that veterans who find jobs through these programs often stay longer with their companies and contribute positively to team culture and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
