What Women’s History Month means to me.

It’s a reminder to me to do for someone else what was done for me.?I was blessed. Really. I grew up when women were starting to be empowered in the ‘70’s.?From the get-go, I knew I was as smart and as capable as any boy in the room. I drew an ace. I grew up with a mother that was a force of nature, a father that taught me I could do anything, a group of best friends that had as many boys as there were girls. I was fortunate. I really was oblivious as a young girl that there was a day when a girl couldn’t vote or needed her father to approve her actions. I went to work at 14 because I could. I had mentors in the office, both women and men that said “just do the job” and be the best you can be. They championed me.

Yes, I found significant challenges along the way (trust me!) Yes, sometimes I feel those same challenges today – late in my career and in the fall of my life.?But having said that, I know me and I trust me.?I am sometimes abrupt, I sometimes move too fast and yes, I can sometimes be challenging, but I aim to be kind and respectful.?It’s not a gender thing, it’s a people thing. We are all kind and all a little challenging in our own way.?Women’s History Month is commemorative, observant and celebratory of all that has come before to allow us to be who we are and to remind us that we have family and mentors, friends and co-workers to push us to be vital, positive contributors in this journey we are all on.

What you enjoy most about serving as a top executive at Triumph.

I get the opportunity to try to do the right thing. I believe Triumph as an enterprise really understands that it can only do the positive with a team. I really like Triumph and what it stands for.?We don’t always hit it every day, but I believe we most certainly try. We have a Board of Directors, a CEO, a leadership group and a staff that I think act as a team and that I know appreciates one another. I think we know when we go wrong, but always try to get it right. How great a place is that to work? I get to be part of a team which allows me to reach out, teach, and empower. Hopefully, I help provide a stepping stone toward someone else’s goals.

Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on the past in gratitude of all the women who have paved the way for me and to continue the fight for women coming after me. It serves as a reminder to continue to broaden my own understanding of the issues and challenges faced by women of varying ethnicities, socioeconomic standings and backgrounds.?

At TBK Bank, I have been challenged to bring my best to the table day in and day out. ?What Women’s History Month means to me.

This is a reminder of the importance of women in society and in the workplace. Every day we should continue to develop the potential of women in places of leadership, but having a month where there is an intentional spotlight, trainings, discussions and actions helps re-energize the focus of women. It’s also a time to celebrate the progress that continues to be made.?

?What I enjoy most about serving as a top executive at Triumph.

What I enjoy most is the people and the opportunities! The teams are so knowledgeable about the business, have genuine care for their clients and want to do great work every day! That’s an exciting team to be engaged with! Secondly, with the growth that TBC has accomplished over the past two years is incredible and I’m excited about the opportunities to continue to optimize and scale the operational side of the business.

What Women’s History Month means to me.

Women’s History Month makes me think about the many strong, independent and driven women whose sacrifices paved the way for other women. Some of them are famous, but most of them worked behind the scenes and in the trenches, breaking barriers and fighting inequities. As I listen to the many biographies that surface during this time, I am reminded of how different life must have been for them. My hope is that we are living up to the vision they had for this generation. I am indebted to the trailblazers that have gone before us and can’t help but think, “If they could only see us now.”

What you enjoy most about serving as a top executive at Triumph.

Triumph offers a unique opportunity for its executive women, which is a culture of collaboration and a spirit of friendship and community. Women of Triumph support each other and build each other up. There have been many women I’ve admired and looked to for support and inspiration during my 12 years with Triumph.?Admiring their strength and tenacity while they juggle career and family. Especially during the pandemic when they also had to take on the role of teacher, counselor, and babysitter. As an executive of Triumph, I strive to lead by example with humility and transparency. I am grateful to continue to serve and mentor others.????

What Women’s History Month means to me.

Women’s History Month provides all generations – young and young at heart – a time to educate and reflect on the tremendous contributions made by women that shaped our nation and our world. Women’s History Month also helps inspire and encourage all to continue to seek equality and diversity in every aspect of our lives.

?What I enjoy most about serving as a top executive at Triumph.

Technology has historically been a male-dominated industry. I cherish being a role model for others women to reach executive roles in technology. Triumph is a diverse organization and I enjoy the benefits of working with a diverse executive team who freely brings their strengths, passions and ideas to an inclusive team.?
