Honoring our Veterans

Honoring our Veterans

In addition to welcoming about 1,000 veterans as new employees in the last year, CommonSpirit Health has an important role in the health and daily lives of veterans throughout the 21 states where we operate. So many of the health disparities that we fight every day afflict veterans more than others.

More than 10 percent of those who return from active combat have post-traumatic stress disorder, and far too many women who were service members report that they were victims of sexual violence. Homelessness, opioid addiction, vision or hearing difficulty, mental health conditions, and poverty are just a few other common issues that our veterans experience.

We work every day to improve these conditions. And we have programs to help veterans translate their military experience, so that we and other employers see the tremendous value that our veterans bring to civilian jobs. Across our system, we sponsor or host events to recruit veterans or assist them with employment opportunities.

Every individual who put their lives on the line to protect and defend us deserves excellent care, not just lofty words of praise or thanks.
