?Every day, Virginia ABC's Bureau of Law Enforcement special agents carry out a unique mission to improve safety in the Commonwealth. This Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (Jan. 9), we honor our more-than 100 agents, along with our non-sworn support staff, for their dedication, commitment and service.
Virginia ABC special agents have full police powers with a diverse range of duties, which include conducting underage sale compliance checks and supporting more than 19,000 licensed establishments.
"After 33 years of service, I am still proud to be a dedicated Law Enforcement Officer,” said COO Tom Kirby, who serves as chief of law enforcement. “I ask each of you to take a minute today and reflect on your own careers in this profession and the positive impacts each of you have on public safety."
The Bureau of Law Enforcement is accredited by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission.
