Honoring Juneteenth

Today is an important day honoring the Black experience in America. As we observe Juneteenth and commemorate this week’s signing of the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, we celebrate progress, remaining committed to further action and change. 

At Synchrony, we understand that too often the freedom granted more than 150 years ago is still met by inequity and injustice. This reality faced by our Black colleagues, customers, partners, their families and communities, has been a driving force behind our work to build a company and culture that champions belonging and that celebrates differences. 

Today, as we reflect upon the history and importance of Juneteenth, we do so committed to continuing honest and at times difficult conversations that challenge us to think boldly about how we can deliver meaningful progress within our business and in the communities we serve. As an organization, in partnership with our Synchrony family, leaders and African American Network+, we’ll keep our foot on the gas, investing in programs like Education as an Equalizer and advancing our strategic focus on workforce development and inclusion; financial growth and wellness; and racial equality and social reform. 

This Juneteenth we celebrate freedom, while continuing to work toward equity. We honor the past, committed to a brighter future. And most importantly, we stand inspired by those who have fought for a better world with conviction to create new possibilities for the generations to come.
