Honoring the Enduring Legacy of my Great-Grandparents, Maggie, and Ezra Schlouch: A Tribute to Their Unwavering Dedication and Hard Work:
In the rolling fields of Brecknock Township, Berks County, a legacy was born in 1914 that would stretch through the decades like the sturdy oak whose branches reach ever upward. The Schlouch family farm, purchased for a modest $1,440 by Maggie and Ezra Schlouch, was more than just an investment; it was a promise.
Maggie and Ezra were pioneers in their own right, their vision and resilience evident in the way they nurtured their land and their family. They saw the farm not just as a plot of earth but as a canvas for their dreams. Every furrow turned in the soil was a testament to their grit, and every basket of poultry and produce sold at the Bingaman Street market in Reading was a symbol of their dedication to quality and hard work. Their business thrived not just on profit but on principles—the importance of family, the value of perseverance, and the joy of giving back.
Their farm became more than a source of livelihood; it was the heart of their community. The lessons they imparted were as rich and enduring as the soil they tilled. They taught that the strength of one’s roots is vital to sustaining the branches that reach for the sky. They showed that success is not merely measured in wealth but in the impact one leaves on others.
Generations later, that spirit endures in their descendants. The original farm is still family owned and operated by my cousin, John.
Deb and I stand today on the foundation laid by Maggie and Ezra. With owning and operating a 70-acre farm and our 275-strong team at the construction company, we continue their tradition of hard work and integrity. Our business is more than a company; it is a community. Each project we complete, each employee we support, reflects the values handed down to us. We strive to honor those values by ensuring that every endeavor we undertake contributes positively to the lives of those around us.

Just as Maggie and Ezra worked tirelessly to foster their family farm, Deb and I work tirelessly to ensure that the values of liberty, freedom, and democratic principles guide our every decision. We believe in the power of giving back, in the importance of upholding the rule of law, and in the necessity of equality and limited government. These principles are the very fabric of America, woven into the everyday lives of its people.
In nurturing our family, our business, and our communities, we honor the roots that Maggie and Ezra planted. Each effort, each gesture of kindness, each commitment to excellence is a tribute to the past and a gift to the future. Our actions, like theirs, are driven by a belief that the strength of our roots will ensure that our family tree remains robust and flourishing for generations to come.
God Bless our family and God Bless America, where the legacy of hard work, community spirit, and steadfast values continue to shape a brighter future.
