Honoring Church's Chicken Founder at “History Here” Dedication

In 1952, George W. Church Sr. created an establishment that offered freshly cooked, quality fried chicken that embraced the bold flavors of Texas. In the past 70 years since the first Church’s Chicken? To-Go was opened in San Antonio, we now have over 1,500 locations in 26 countries around the world.

Reaching this incredible milestone called for celebration and family members of George W. Church Sr. gathered with franchise owners, brand members and city members near the Riverwalk to reflect and rejoice accomplishments the brand has made.

Acting as a finale to San Antonio’s annual Fiesta celebration, the Sunday ceremony began with a “History Here” marker dedication in collaboration with the San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation and District 1, which granddaughter Catherine Jett accepted on behalf of the Church family.

“Being able to gather and celebrate this amazing achievement with George Church’s family members, franchisee owners and city members was a great honor,” said Kelly McLouth Staha, Senior Marketing Manager for Church’s Chicken?. “We could not have been happier with the outpouring of support shown and we appreciate everyone who joined us. Here’s to many more years!”

There were over 50 guests in attendance, and all were given a Fiesta medal commemorating our 70 years upon arrival to the event and enjoyed a Fiesta Box featuring Chicken on a Stick, compliments of Ampler Chicken LLC, who own and operate 93 Church’s Chicken locations.
