Honoring AAPINH Month

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Native Hawaiian (AAPINH) Heritage Month. This month recognizes the many contributions the AAPINH community has made to the history, culture, and achievements of the US.?

Despite the undeniable impact the AAPINH community has on our culture, workplace, and overall society they are often forgotten in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) discussions and trainings.?

Collectively, we need to change that narrative. I want to challenge you this month to go out of your way to learn from, follow, and amplify AAPINH content creators.?

Here is a list of some of my favorite AAPINH content creators but please join the conversation and comment to add to this list.?


Lily Zheng (they/them)?

Lily is a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategist and Consultant and author of DEI Deconstructed: Your No-Nonsense Guide to Doing the Work and Doing it Right (November 2022), The Ethical Sellout, and Gender Ambiguity in the Workplace. Lily is also a LinkedIn Top Voice on Racial Equity.?


Cynthia Pong, JD (she/her)

Cynthia is the speaker, author, and founder of Embrace Change which is dedicated to leadership and negotiation coaching for rule-breaking women of color. Cynthia is also a recognized Top Voice on LinkedIn.?


Jerry Won (he/him)

Jerry Won is the Founder & CEO of Just Like Media, Founder, Host, and Producer of Dear Asian Americans, Founder & CEO of Always Be Creating, and more. Jerry is also a keynote speaker and workshop facilitator that speaks and shares content on a variety of topics including authentic storytelling, personal branding, creator economy, and the Asian American experience in the workplace.


Owin Pierson (he/they)

Owin shares content about mental health, LGBTQ matters, and advocacy for the AAPI community on Instagram. Pierson originally started on Instagram sharing photography which he loves as a storytelling medium.


Michelle MiJung Kim (she/her)

Michelle is an award-winning author of The Wake Up: Closing the Gap Between Good Intentions and Real Change, Keynote Speaker, and LinkedIn Top Voice on Racial Equity. Michelle shares content on the importance of equitable and inclusive leadership all leaders can learn from.?


Ramit Sethi?

Ramit is the New York Times best-selling author of “I Will Teach You To Be Rich.” and host of Netflix’s “How to Get Rich”. Ramit is also the Founder and CEO of I will Teach You To Be Rich (IWTB). Ramit’s content opens the door for open and authentic discussions on your relationship with money while also addressing the cultural nuances where most financial influencers fall short.?


Almeera Jiwa Pratt (she/her)?

Almeera is a content manager for LinkedIn Learning where she leads the younger learner engagement strategy and strengthens the greater LinkedIn creator community. She is also a recognized actor, writer, and producer and shares valuable content on nano-learning, self-reflection, and more.?


Kamaka Dias (he/him)

Kamaka is a Native Hawaiian podcast host, author, and content creator that uses his platform to share information about entrepreneurship, and the culture and native language of Hawaii. Kamaka also promotes Hawaii's local businesses through the Hawaiiverse podcast and app.?


Tiffany A. Yu, MSc (she/her)

Tiffany is the Founder & CEO of Diversability, 3x TEDx Speaker, a LinkedIn Top Voice in Disability Advocacy, and a recognized TikTok Trailblazer.??


Asif Sadiq MBE (he/him)

Asif is the Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for Warner Bros. Discovery, co-author of Closing the Gap: 5 Steps to Creating an Inclusive Culture, and a renowned keynote speaker. Asif is a passionate and inspirational global leader and shares content on empowering individuals and creating a truly inclusive environment for all.
