Honorary Fellows of the Teachers’ Guild of New South Wales (HFTGN)

Since 1892, our Guild has been an active voice in defending and enhancing the professionalism and status of teachers in New South Wales.

Today, The Guild continues to promote a long established theme of deep interest in the professional development and encouragement of colleague educators, providing opportunities for members of the profession to network, refine skills, and receive recognition.

Our suite of awards, acknowledging outstanding colleagues at various stages of their career, and our professional development program, both designed to be accessible to real teachers who work in real classrooms, are a vital contribution, and stand in positive contrast to the offerings of some other organisations. The Guild initiative to grant post-nominals to all but our student members was an encouragement for us all to be proud of our membership of an association with such a fine heritage, and one still making a valuable contribution to education.

To give further acknowledgement to outstanding members of our profession, for the last couple of years we launched a new category of membership available to existing members, and to new members, who meet rigorous, but simple, criteria. Honorary Fellows of the Teachers’ Guild of New South Wales will be invited to have this honour conferred on them at our major events, and will be entitled to the post-nominals HFTGN.

Applying is simple. The first step is on-line. Following receipt of an application, the Awards Committee may seek documentary evidence of the applicant’s having met one or more of the criteria. And that’s all.

Perhaps you, yourself, will apply. If you believe you are eligible, please do! But please also forward this to colleagues who deserve this recognition. There are so many of them, and we’d love to be able to recognise them.

Check out the criteria and details, and find the on-line application form, at the following link https://www.teachersguild.nsw.edu.au/membership

You will not regret a moment of your time, invested for your own recognition, or for that of valued colleagues.

Let’s recognise the outstanding and accomplished teachers among us. Remember, applicants need not be current members of the Guild.

I am thrilled to have been a recipient of this award, recognising my impact on education. Wonderful opportunity for other educational leaders to see the value they bring.
