Honor Your Truth & Own Your Worth With This Magic Question.

What if you could ask yourself one question that would make a million dollar difference over the course of your career?

And what if you could ask your best friend the same question and make that same difference for them?

Let me set the stage.

I'm winding down for the weekend when my cell phone flashes a surprise text! I look down to see the shining face of a treasured client beaming with joy at a Taylor Swift concert. This mid-concert selfie struck a chord for a number of reasons:

• First and foremost, seeing her bright smile, taking time for fun inside of her busy life, filled with parenting and professional responsibilities filled me with delight.
• Secondly, the fact that she chose to include me in that special moment touched me deeply. To be an integral part of her team, a place she can celebrate the highlights and navigate the low moments Is the greatest honor - there is nothing I would rather see come across my phone.
• The Icing on the cake is that she pointed out that she was standing beside her "bestie". She clarified, "The one who had gotten the nice bump" - referencing a significant increase in starting salary at a new company - in no small part due to my client's influence.

So I was witnessing not one bright future but the ripple effect of empowerment and self-belief in two lives (now THAT's a Friday!)?

The Importance of Identifying What You Truly Want:

When my client first approached me, one of her primary goals was to grow her income. She felt she was falling behind and wasn't receiving her true worth. This was having the combined effect of discouragement, doubt, and a mounting sense that things might never work out for her.

It can be hard to find fulfillment at work when you feel undervalued, searching for a financial breakthrough with no clear path to actually make it happen. But of course, we were not going to leave her hanging there for too long.

?I asked her the magic question:

??"If you could wave a magic wand… no limits… not censored…?what do you really want?"

?And it was right there. A number that she had in mind (in heart).

?A number that would feel like she was catching up, like she was fairly compensated.

?A number she could feel proud of.

?A number that had breath, that made her smile, and her eyes sparkle a little bit. (That's the good stuff!)?

?As she allowed herself to be honest, and own that authentic desire for more money, it opened a door in her mind (and thus in the world) to having it. This "owning"?has inherent empowerment, creates focus, and spurs action. It has the energy and power of fresh starts and new possibilities.

Removing the Blocks and Stepping into Your Worth:

From there, we worked on removing the internal and external obstacles holding her back. We addressed the limiting beliefs and fears surrounding deservingness and set her on a path to claim her worth.

What's interesting is that once we line our insides up with our true desires, change can happen rapidly. Which was exactly the case here (YAY!). As mental blocks started to crumble it made way for her to achieve bold financial goals in unexpected, surprising and rather speedy ways.

Rapid Financial Growth:

Here's what unfolded…

• Within our first 3 months her boss decided to increase her salary (wait for it) …. by 25% (does that even happen?).?
• Then at review time she received a surprisingly meaningful bonus.
• Add in that the company paid for her coach and…

Her total compensation grew by 56% in less than a year, exceeding even her own bold intentions.

These types of sudden shifts can sound hard to believe, but there are certain things that want to happen in our lives. And when we're ready, when we believe in ourselves, in our dreams, in our inherent worth, we often find that on the other side, Life has everything all lined up waiting for us.?

Paying it forward:

Which brings us to the "bestie" in the picture. Having experienced her own significant growth in income, my client leaned in to support her friend who was in the final stages of negotiating salary at a new job.

The bestie was going to ask for a certain amount of money...

The money she felt would be reasonable...

The money that would be acceptable (in her own mind) …

But my client asked skillfully,

"If you could wave a magic wand - what do you really want?"

As it turns out, what she REALLY wanted was not the $135,000 she was going to ask for, but $150,000, and vacation, and benefits, and all the things.

And so my client encouraged her bestie to ask for what she actually wanted (she's going to make an exceptional coach someday).

Can you imagine what happened next?

Did the employer shake their head disappointedly saying "We would never hire you at that rate. How could you be so arrogant to think you're worth that?!"

Of course not! They said "Great! Yes. Let's actually make that $155 and how about a $10,000 signing bonus" Boom!?

All because my client had the courage to ask a great question.

All because they each were willing to believe that maybe, their perceived worth from the outside world and their inner sense of worth could be aligned.

All because her bestie owned it and asked for it.

And don't even get me started on the ripple effect of these income moves over the course of these two women's lives - in the decades ahead, this year of boldness, clarity, and owning their worth will impact their personal wealth in the high, high, 6-figures.

Claiming Your Worth and Owning Your Desires:
