Tell us a little about yourself:
Hello! I am a Vietnamese American based out of Washington State. I have two dogs Teddy and Mimi and am a huge plant/gym enthusiast!
- Who has been the most influential woman leader in your career and why? I would like to give a special shoutout to Tennille Jeffries-Simmons. Tennille oversaw the HR team in my first role and her empathy, intellect, and push-forwardness has completely shaped what true leadership means to me. Additionally, I have been extremely lucky to have been surrounded by many women who have shown up and continue to show up for me. So to the countless others who have pushed me forward, held me close, and given me the confidence to be who I am today, THANK YOU.?
- Are you an anime fan? What do you think about the growing popularity of anime in mainstream pop culture, especially with celebrities, athletes, and other entertainers? BIG YES! I have been a long time Anime fan and have been so excited to see this growth in popularity! Anime is a place where people can come and just be, so to see this acceptance across traditionally mainstream markets is incredibly gratifying. It has provided a much brighter and warmer spotlight on the magic of this fandom.
- As a woman in the anime industry, what opportunities do you see for other women? I believe that a big reason the popularity of Anime has grown so much is that there's something for everyone. There are many spaces within Anime that have been loud in its celebration of women and as we continue to grow, the importance of continued and expanded representation will grow as well. In short, everything everywhere all at once!??
- What is one piece of advice that you would give to young women starting their career? FIND COMMUNITY. There will be many moments in your journey that are going to be difficult, nearly impossible, and the best way to thrive (and not just survive) is to get help. This can be in the peers around you, a mentor that wholeheartedly believes in you, or someone in your personal life. Unfortunately, many of us (myself included) have been taught to feel shame in asking for help, when in reality, no one finds success alone. Surround yourself with people who will celebrate you!?
