“Honey, can you move my mouse for me?”
Talking with clients I’ve stumbled upon a “secret” society.
Are you a part of it?
This is not just about wearing a shirt and tie along with your fig leaf...
It turns out, some of us like to “appear” to be hard at work. Since many are now on “lock down” and working from home…
Just like a long lunch, folks are trying to eek out some extra time for themselves.
I’ve heard a lot of pretty (ingenious) “tactics”.
For instance, moving your mouse (or having someone else do it) so it appears you’re still working on your computer.
You know, so it doesn’t “shut down” due to inactivity. Thus alerting your boss.
For webinar participants, many have taken to wearing headphones/earbuds so they appear to be listening intently to the webinar.
In reality, they’re jamming to tunes. Or a favorite audio book.
My favorite in this category was a lady who was listening to “Headspace”. For meditation and relaxation!
So far, the leader has to be a guy in Wisconsin. Right before the “stay at home” order came down, he took a picture of himself with his webcam.
He then had it blown up (36 inches tall-24 inches wide). He then placed it strategically on his office chair.
Boom! “I’ll never missed a company webinar.”
Well, he made it through 3 ? meetings until his CAT knocked it over!
The funny part to me was all the other participants were seeing “Bob” until he just went away.
Replaced by the face of a very curious cat!
Have you “skirted the rules” while working remotely?
Love to hear about it!
