An Honest Seth Jared Course Review by Seth Jared

Seth Jared with Course Students in Atlanta

Hi, this is Seth Jared Hymes (I'm second from the right in the picture), and since 2016 my course has helped thousands of people start careers in digital marketing with no previous experience. Now you may be wondering how this is possible and how the course has so many great, authentic reviews, distinct from other online programs, and I hope to explain that here.

Don't Take My Word For It

Now, I know this is kind of awkward. I mean, you're probably Googling me right now and trying to figure out: is this guy Seth Jared legit or not? Should I get Seth's course? And I totally understand. After all, the world of online courses is chock full of hype and misinformation.

So why the heck should you listen to me? After all, it's my course. I'm completely biased. I wouldn't listen to my opinion about my own course either.

So, instead of that, I recommend listening to, reading or watching the many reviews of my actual students who have taken the Digital Marketing Career Blueprint and gotten a job in digital marketing.

You might have seen some already, like this one, from my student Trent. Trent joined my program because he understood high demand for digital marketing skills, and he learned everything I outlined above that is taught in the course.

The Digital Marketing Career Blueprint Course Cirriculum

Let's start by talking about what the Digital Marketing Career Blueprint actually teaches:

  • Orienting new students with no experience in marketing to the digital marketing industry, and the actual jobs that are open, so they have a professional context (not just theory).
  • Training in the most in demand skills that emloyers need - Paid Search (Google Ads), SEO, Paid Social, and Analytics.
  • Practical exercises to generate digital marketing experience from scratch, to build confidence, competance, and impress employers.
  • Powerful projects and resume templates, along with detailed instructions on how to fill them out appropriately, so there is no guesswork when students begin applying to job.
  • Guidance on how to decipher job postings, have successful Interviews, and how to speak persusively to hiring managers.
  • Twice a week Coaching Calls with my Alumni Coaches, who are working professionally in Paid Search and SEO; Personal feedback on projects and resumes from my Alumni Coaches and me (I answer all my emails personally, I don't have an assistant doing that).
  • A supportive and enlivening virtual community via the Forum and Facebook Group; I am in the Facebook Group daily. Alumni frequently return with job openings and opportunities from their companies and sharing their successes.

For some context on why there are so many digital marketing jobs available now, this is a quick summary:

  • In the last decade, digital marketing like advertising on Google and Facebook, has overtaken traditional marketing like advertising on TV and Radio.
  • Digital is a $200 Billion industry, and companies need people to manage their advertising. Unlike in the old days, when you needed to work on Madison avenue to do this, all of these skills can be learned online.
  • Colleges are outdated and not teaching digital. There are more than 90,000 open digital marketing jobs on Linkedin in the US alone, and there aren't enough skilled applicants who even know these jobs exist.

I am constantly uploading new reviews and testimonials on my Instagram page, Linkedin, and Youtube channel. People just send me these emails, and I share them on social media.

But before you watch anymore, I'd like to let you know why these reviews are unique among the online course space.

I'd also like to share some secrets that other online course creators use to try and "trick" people into buying (that I don't use), so you can make sure you are making an informed decision. And I'd like to give you a little more insight into my program.

The Digital Marketing Career Blueprint Story

I got my first digital marketing job in 2011, after being an unemployed art major with no experience in digital marketing. I stumbled into the field and by 2014, I was making six figures ($75K/Yr plus bonuses). In 2016, I decided to teach other peple to show other people how to do the same thing, and I launched the Digital Marketing Career Blueprint. Or the Seth Jared Digital Marketing course as it's sometimes called. Or just "Seth's Course". (Actually my name is Seth Hymes, but I decided to use my middle name which is Jared, when I started out because I thought it would be easier for people to pronounce. Now I use them all and go by Seth Jared Hymes).

I wanted this course to be different from school and from other online courses. After 16 years of high school and college, I'd learned absolutely nothing about real life, work, or money. I hated how classes were impractical, disconnected from reality, and incomplete. I remember graduating from college and then having a 2 hours "Seminar" about how to make a resume. 2 hours out of 4 years and thousands of dollars in tuition!

So in my course, I decided not just to teach people about digital marketing. I wanted to make the job search, resumes, and interviews PART of the training itself. Even to this day, most digital marketing certification programs and even six figure degre programs teach people nothing about how to actually talk to hiring managers and land that first job.

It's this practical, no BS approach to getting a job that inspires such great reviews.

My First Reviews Were a Surprise

When I launched the course in 2016, I had no testimonials and there were few reviews. But only a few months after launching I started getting emails and messages like this:

(Billy has since given permission to share, and he actually still works at Seer).

?Not only were people actually getting jobs, I was building relationships with these wonderful students and creating an amazing network of alumni. Students were actually becoming friends with each other and even helping each other professionally!

I even had the pleasure of meeting some of my students in person in 2018 in New York City. You can see a photo of a bunch of us at a pizza shop in Queens. cc

Authentic Reviews from People You Can Talk To

?I'm sharing this with you because I know how daunting buying things online can be. From something small like a toaster to something big like a career training course, it is hard to know who you can trust. Reviews play a huge role in these decisions!

One of the things I can't stand about the world of online courses is how easily slick marketers can manipulate the power of reviews.

You might have seen other online course reviews with: blurred screenshots or short, questionably edited videos of people singing their praises. You might have seen reviews that consist of a few positive sentences about a program, with a hard to see thumbnail and a person's first name.

That's one of the major differences with my course.

The Digital Marketing Career Blueprint has more authentic, vertifiable testimonials and reviews than you've ever seen.

That means that nowadays, I include my student's full names and their employer on each digital marketing blueprint testmonial. I often include a link to their Linkedin profile or tag them on Instagram. Either way, it's not hard to actually reach out to these students and speak to them directly.

In fact, my students are usually so excited and lit up by their results, they are happy to answer questions for people considering the course.

So I would suggest: you don't have to listen to me at all. Listen and watch the dozens and dozens of reviews of my course done by real students of mine, who are working real jobs. Message them - they will write you back, and give you details about their experience with "Seth's course" and their journey to success.

Anatomy of a Digital Marketing Blueprint Review

You can read dozens of these testimonials of people who got a job in digital marketing on my Instagram page, or watch in depth 30 minute podcast style interviews on my Youtube channel.

I let these interviews go long so you can actually get to know the students and see that they are real. On Instagram I include a student's entire message. Most of the time, you will hear almost the same story.

  1. The student heard about my course
  2. The student was excited but skeptical
  3. The student watched dozens of testimonials
  4. The student was convinced and decided to join
  5. The student dove into the course, loved it, and worked their butt off for 2-6 months doing the course work and applying for job
  6. The student finally landed an entry level job - 3 to 8 months after joining the course.

Here's a good example of one testimonial like that. This is Kiyan Klocker - he was 20 when he took the course and got a job. He went through the course several times over 5 months and followed all the directions before getting his first job. This is the email he sent me:

Seth Jared Review by Kiyan 20 Years Old

And this is the full interview with Kiyan on Youtube.

Setting Realistic Expectations

I point this out because another thing I really try to stress is realistic timeframes and expectations. Notice how Kiyan got a $42K/Yr job, which is amazing for a 20 year old without a college degree. But he isn't driving a Ferrari, or taking selfies wearing furs outside of a big mansion. That kind of BS is a clear signal of hype and unrealistic promises.

Beward of any online course that promises you fast, easy results, especially when it comes to money. There are still a LOT of online courses that do this, and it really annoys me.

If you're looking to make quick money, the Digital Marketing Blueprint isn't for you. This digital marketing course consists of 14 hours of videos and at least 10 hours dedicated to creating websites and generating experience. You have to actually take the time to learn these digital marketing skills and learn to provide value to a company if you want to get a digital marketing job.

You need to have a positive mindset, tenacity, and a passion for digital marketing.

The realistic progression of a digital marketing career path goes like this.

First, you get an entry level job making anywhere from $30,000 on the job end to $45K or $50K on the high end. This entry level job is a great achievement, but not the ultimate goal! As I explain in my Free Masterclass, companies have lowered the bar on hiring, which makes it easier to get a job.

That first job is a place to gain confidence in your skillsets and experience that you can add to your resume. You are essentially being paid to learn, even if it is a lower salary. And this experience is priceless.

Consider that Kiyan is getting paid $42,000 a year to learn and gain experience in SEO, while college students his age are paying $50,000 a year to learn outdated marketing concepts.

Then, after 6 months to a year at your first job, you are in a fantastic position to level up to a higher paying job. This is the most common scenario. Angel Nieves is a great example of this. He started at $40K and made it all the way to $75K within a year.

You can see his progression - he is now making over six figures.

Kayla Echols is another good example. She started at $40K, and got a new job 11 months later making $55K plus bonuses.

The Digital Marketing Career Blueprint is just that: a blueprint. It's a reproducible and proven system. I can't predict exactly when you will get a job, but it will happen if you really work hard, study, absorb the skills and take action with a positive mindset. These jobs are real, they are open, and they are in need of people who have even a slight clue about what digital marketing is.

Study, learn the skills, apply and generate your own experience. Then get that first entry level job, get more experience there, and within 6 months to a year you can leverage up to $50K-$60K or more. And within 3-4 years you can be making $100K. That includes the ability to get your own clients in addition to any salaried job you have.

One Marketing Trick to Watch Out for

There are some other courses out there that use questionable marketing tactics to pressure people into making fast buying decisions. I don't like those kinds of techniques.

One of the most effective and ethically quesitonable techniques is something called "False Scarcity." This is when a course creator or company tells you the original price of a product, then tells you that "if you act quickly you can get a massive discount!"

Now there's nothing wrong with sales or discounts. Amazon and other companies do them all the time. However, the "false" aspect of it is the problem. With online courses, it is possible to create a "fake timer" on a sales page, saying that if you don't buy the program within x number of hours you will lose out on a big discount.

It's false, because this is a big lie. The course pricing never changes, and if you reset the page after the timer runs out it is usually the same.

Most marketing funnel programs have a timer function like this. There's even a company called "Deadline Funnel" which makes it really hard to see through the illusion.

Take Your Time & Research a Digital Marketing Course

Anyway - my point is this: you should not invest in a career training program on an impulse or because of time pressure.

My course is always a constant price, and if it is going to change, I make an announcement giving people plenty of time to prepare. I changed the price once in Dec 2019 and then again in August 2021. I am very careful to be clear about the time and focus and hard work it takes to begin a career in digital marketing. It is possible, it is inspiring, but it does not happen overnight. You need to be prepared and hav the right mindset.

Therefore, I encourage my potential students to really research and put some thought and time into their decision to take the course. Watch the testimonials and reviews, watch my webinar/masterclass, get on Linkedin and see these jobs for yourself.

Don't be misled/rushed into your enrollment in any kind of training program. If you come into an online course with a level head and realistic expectations, ready to learn and work, you will have the best chance of success.
