Homeworking Survival Guide

Homeworking Survival Guide

Happy Monday all, week two of working from home for many people, this is the week where it begins to bite back, here are some of my own tips for staying on track with what may be a new way of working for some, please feel free to add your own tips in the comments:

1.     Set up your workstation as close as you can to that of your usual space in the office, at the end of the day re-set your space so it’s ready and inviting for you in the morning.

2.    When you hit your desk, think about the day ahead and what you want to achieve, list it out and check tasks of as they are done, your list is your home office manager.

3.    Keep to your usual schedule, don’t be tempted to stay in bed longer, get up at your usual time, if you commute usually use the extra time to get some fresh air in the Garden or have a decent breakfast, help your mind travel to work or you will feel like you are in home mode all day.

4.     Set times for breaks, but don’t go overboard with coffee and tea, caffeine can be a nuisance and make you feel fidgety, stick with water, diluting juice, stay of the fizzy stuff, have a walk in the Garden for five minutes too.

5.     Keep your lunches lite and eat away from your desk, catch up with others in the house check in make sure everyone ifs fine, if you are home alone call a colleague and chit chat, stay connected with those you only usually see at lunch or during breaks.

6.    At the end of the day, wind it down asses what you have done and prepare for tomorrow, don’t move straight from your desk to the sofa, grab some fresh air first, journey back to the home mindset or work will stay with you while you try and unwind.

7.    Stay positive and remember why w are all doing this, #StayHomeSaveLives

I love the idea of getting fresh air to start and end the day to define some structure and take you from home mode to work mode. A great post! ??
