Homes that invoke feelings sell
I photograph a lot of houses. Sometimes houses are just houses and sometimes they are homes, all offer something to a prospective buyer. Like most people I have my own preferences and it is very seldom that I walk into a home and go wow, I could see myself living here.
This house looked like many others from the outside, it was neat but unremarkable but when you stepped inside it was warm, inviting and balanced. Balance is something I look for it revolves around the use of space, to functionality and purpose which is comfortable without being crowded, it speaks of good architecture but it also speaks to a sense of style. The owner who I never had the chance to meet has a great eye when it comes to decor, everything fitted, everything flowed. Furnishings usually don't come with the structure but it does convey a sense of what is possible and the owners did a great job, it looked and felt homely to such an extent that it invoked a feeling that I don't normally get in another persons house and I left feeling good and wondering if we should sell. Apparently I am not the only one who felt that way, the house was on the market 1 day before being bought. I would like to say it was my photography but a home that can invoke feelings in a jaded old photographer like me is hard to resist.
