Homes England and George Clarke among advocates for off-site
Sarah Payling

I was wonderfully surprised at MIPIM this year. All the talk centred around fixing the broken housing market and how off-site construction could be part of the solution. Homes England hosted an excellent session on Wednesday morning on the UK government stand and we hand standing-room only for our session with Tom Bloxham of Urban Splash, Nick Walkley, chief executive, Homes England, Deborah McLaughlin, director, Capita Real Estate and the architect and broadcaster George Clarke. The debate, chaired by my colleague Martin Hilditch, managing editor, Inside Housing, became quite heated when George suggested we should build less of more quality - a point not echoed by Nick!
So next stop Housing in June. Working alongside MHCLG, One Public Estate, Homes England, Manchester City Council, CIH, RIBA, TCPA, Design Council, among others, we will bring the widest audience yet to the Manchester to discuss the government's number one domestic agenda. Register today to meet 8000 like-minded others at Europe's largest housing festival. www.cihhousing.com
