Homeowner Saves $3,400 in One Week With Two Different Repairs

When Bill, a homeowner in California, had a sink that wouldn't drain, that was bad enough. Then his air conditioner stopped working. Bill didn't stress -- he had HomeServe plans to cover both repairs.

When Bill W. of Los Gatos, California, first received a notice from his local utility about the availability of an optional warranty program, he didn’t know that a suite of HomeServe emergency home repair plans would prove to be a wise investment.?

“We have an older home,” Bill explained.??

Bill was concerned about the need for repairs around his home, their potential cost and how that would affect his budget, so he enrolled in plans to protect his water and sewer service lines, the plumbing and electrical systems in his home and his water heather and heating and air conditioning system.??

He could have never predicted that he would save nearly $16,000 in repair costs over ten years, with repairs ranging from failed electrical switches to a water heater replacement to replacing a sewage pump.??

“It’s been a very good program,” Bill said. “I’m very satisfied.”?

Not only did Bill save thousands of dollars, he also didn’t have to take on the tall task of locating, vetting or hiring his own contractors. Because his repairs were completed by contractors that HomeServe dispatched from its network of local, licensed and insured contractors and paid them directly. All Bill needed to do was to make a phone call to HomeServe’s Chattanooga, Tennessee-based operations center to get the help he needed.??

“They are pretty attentive, and they know what the coverage is,” Bill said. “I’ve had very good luck with the service.”??

Most recently, Bill had an issue with his laundry sink not draining.??

“It was pretty bad,” Bill said, “I had these contracts, so that was the first call I made. This wasn’t my first claim. I’ve had the program for ten years through my water company.”?

HomeServe dispatched Advanced Quality Plumbing Repair, which replaced several feet of cast iron sewer line, resolving his drainage issue. His HomeServe plan had saved him more than $3,000 for just this repair.??

But that wasn’t the end of Bill’s problems that week – his air conditioning system failed shortly after his sewer line problem arose. Without his HomeServe protection, he’d be on his own to find a contractor to repair his AC in July in the California heat.?

“It just blew out later that week,” Bill said. “It was pretty warm.”?

Once again, HomeServe dispatched a network contractor, this time, Agile Appliance and Refrigeration Repair, to address the issue, saving Bill time, trouble and more than $400.?

“They came out and did it in one trip,” Bill said. “They did a very fine job.”?
