Homemade Pressure sensor selection checklist

NOTE 1:-The range must be small that Max sensor span but care must be taken for how much the Turndown is as accuracy fall with increase in turndown

NOTE 2:-For your calibrated range transmitter will never give 20 mA.

Example :-If the Calibration range is 0-10inH2O but minimum Span is 0-20inH2O then the sensor will measure 10inH2O but will not be able to turndown and provide output of 20mA for 10 inH2O .

NOTE 3:-If this condition is not met then the transmitter will not measure even thought you DP range is within sensor measuring limits .sometimes this limit is because transmitter fill fluid will turn into vapor state beyond 0.5Psia as stated by Rosemount and this can be corrected by mounting transmitter below the lower taping .

NOTE 4:-If this condition is not met then the sensor will get damaged even thought the DP range is within your sensor acceptable limits .

NOTE 5:-The Design Pressure condition must be at least under the MWP (Maximum working pressure) also called over-pressure limits .

But if this is confused with Burst pressure this would permanently damage the sensor

As shown in Graph the Red region beyond MWP the sensor gets damaged.
