The Tiny House Project in LA is interesting in that it is a very quick temporary fix for the first few days of homelessness. People's basic needs are FOOD, CLOTHING & SHELTER.
We need to give homeless people SHELTER before we try and arrange accommodation for them. I'm not suggesting a tent but a small simple structure that is warm, dry and safe. We can put up a garden shed in a matter of a couple of hours. We should be able to do the same to put a roof over the head of a homeless person. This solution might not be as suitable to a family but couples and single people could avail of this simple quick solution for the first period of homelessness.
We could get carried away in talking about Modular Buildings and Off Site construction but it doesn't have to be complicated. If there is no utilities such as water connected - showers and toilets could be provided by temporary portable units and there could be a communal eating area.
Think more like own door PODS rather than houses and if there were well built - it would be better than sleeping rough.
