Homecoming Brad Dye
CRITICAL MESSAGING ASSOCIATION
Safety and Security by Alternative Wireless Services and Solutions
Bradley Fred Dye, 81, of Fairfield, Illinois, USA, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024.
"For a long time we were pleased to receive a special kind of newsletter every week. It was perhaps the only one that not only carried the music of mobile communication, but also combined wireless communication with specially selected music. The author was our friend Brad Dye for many, many years. Yes, paging and Motorola are part of his resume. But then became an unbiased chronicler of what's going on. He never confuses fashion with need. He never confuses a fancy car with the fire brigade. And he argues and quotes.
We saw and heard this from him at the highly acclaimed #CMASummit21 lecture series. His tenor: technology must work. It would not only be ignorance, but negligence not to rely on the second infrastructure and on the fact that my house is not on fire anyway and I therefore don't want to finance the fire brigade.
In the meantime, all the presentations are online. Including Brad Dye's. It was a pleasure to listen to him and the warriors on the very real front lines of secure communications about critical messaging and to tune in to his arguments.

We wrote that here in this Critical Messaging Association account in mid-December 2021. Quite rightly and it came easily from the pen.
Our wise friend, one of the best connoisseurs of special mobile communications, the most persistent chronicler of our and our technology neighbours' issues, someone who also brought country music to Europe, a great friend with a heart, has passed away at the age of 81.
Three more months and it would have been 50 years of "Brad Dye's Newsletter". With a large paging section, but not only.

We will never read his current weekly newsletter again.
But we can read his previous newsletters again here: https://bit.ly/CMA_BradsNewsletters. I clicked on it and was immediately transported back to 2010.
Do the same, find ?your“ year of interest and honour Brad Dye by taking another look.
For all he has done for our community, and therefore for secure communication and the realistic view of it, Brad has been honoured with a lifetime membership of CMA. In 2015, for example, he reported on this in his newsletter.
We were recently able to congratulate him on the 1000th issue of the newsletter here on our account. Please read it here https://bit.ly/CMA_nb1000nlBrad .
Brad worked for Motorola for 21 years, then another 7 years for PageMart. His opinions were sound.

He loved electronics, having a big home theater in his home and being a HAM radio operator. Brad loved to show off his home electronics and had his own coffee bar.

Brad, we have to go on here on earth without you. With clever argumentation and active exchange. You may be watching. And perhaps you will see one or two elements in our work that we have proudly copied from you.
The Board of Directors and the entire Critical Messaging community extend their heartfelt condolences to all your family, friends and comrades.
Brad is survived by his three children and nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Rest in peace, dear Brad.

P.S. About emotions and loyalty. Judge by yourself who doesn’t know him so close. An article from 2005: Homecoming. Here https://bit.ly/CMA_BradHomecoming
We share your grief and admiration for Brad Dye. As Leonardo da Vinci said, "As a well-spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well spent brings happy death." Let's honor Brad's legacy by enriching our discussions as he did. ?? Perhaps, in his memory, contributing to the Guinness World Record of Tree Planting might resonate as a tribute: https://bit.ly/TreeGuinnessWorldRecord.

1 年What sad news about a wonderfully dedicated man. His weekly newsletter was read for years by many in our niche but fabulous industry before cessation last November. It was a great source for all things paging and technically topical. I am sure he will be dearly missed by our community. Thoughts to Brad’s family and friends.

1 年With heavy hearts, we received the sad news of the departure of our beloved friend and colleague, Brad Dye. His absence leaves a void in the Critical Messaging Community that is hard to fill. Brad was more than just an innovator and pioneer in our field. He was a mentor, friend, and a source of inspiration for all those who had the privilege to learn and work with him. His relentless dedication to secure communication has profoundly influenced the entire industry and has helped shape the image of professional communication as we know it today. His unique commitment and contributions, particularly in the area of paging technology, have always inspired us and will continue to do so. All of us at the Critical Messaging Association are filled with pride and gratitude that we were able to work side by side with such a legend.
