Home Trends in 2022
In December, we talked about creating a holiday wishlist for your home. Now that we’re in the new year, let’s take a look at trends in home design and interiors, and see which ones inspire you to take action.
Let’s start with color. Green is trending as the color of the year, from silvery sage to guacamole green. We’re also seeing a range of blues from pale frost to deep teal and periwinkle. Color is a great way to update rooms or add a punch to architectural features.
Bringing nature indoors continues to be popular. You’ll see designs that incorporate natural materials, like exposed beams, repurposed wood tables, stone sinks and tiles, and granite countertops. Bold botanical fabrics and wallpapers are pushing the idea of an accent wall to a new level. Plus, the houseplant trend continues to grow, cleaning the air and calming the soul.?
Curved forms are edging out boxy shapes. Furniture designers are putting rounded backs and rolled arms on sofas and chairs. You’ll see curved corners on mirrors and picture frames, and in the bedroom, dramatic statement headboards.?

Smart home trends include higher quality streaming through WebRTC, and additional touchless fixtures and appliances, from lighting to security to bathroom fixtures. Smart furniture is moving in, like a voice-activated couch with built-in speakers where you charge your mobile devices on the arm, and a bed that learns and adjusts to your sleeping patterns. If you’re working from home, you might want to add noise-canceling windows that keep the neighborhood sounds from joining your Zoom calls.?
Trends are meant to spur ideas and expand options. They give you another lens for looking at your home and where you could reconfigure and redesign your experience. Let us know what trends you’re tracking this year!
