I just read in a recent article what we are going to see in home trends for this year. I wanted to share some of these with you if you are building your new home or are planning on doing some renovations to it.

1. Waterfall counters are in! At first, I didn't know what they meant by this, but it is when countertops extend an inch or more over the cabinets. Not sure if this is a new trend, but one that still continues in 2017.

2. Black stainless steel appliances. My husband and I just purchased all black stainless steel appliances for our new home. I love the look of them so far. I just hope they are easier to clean than the regular stainless steel appliances.

3. Velvet upholstery. Go into your local furniture store and you may find more upholstered pieces in this fabric.

4. Going green. The new trend in designer color is Pantone's Greenery for any nature buffs. At least, Kermit the Frog will be happy. :)

5. Making smart homes. I've heard this for awhile now, not just for 2017. We are looking for ways to enjoy our homes more and have our homes work for us.

6. First floor bars. Take the bars out of the basements, the bars are moving on the main living floors!
