The entire country continues to be plagued by robberies, burglaries, and thefts. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), there were 2,44,119 burglaries, robberies, dacoities, and other crimes committed in residential buildings in 2017. This was an increase of more than 10% over 2016, when there were 2,20,854 such instances. The amount of money lost as a result of these thefts and break-ins is astonishing.

Therefore, November 15 was designated as Home Safety Day in 2017 to urge individuals to defend their homes against dangers including robberies, burglaries, and thefts. Better police tactics are needed, but it also takes a lot of public awareness to keep residential areas safe from these upsetting, frequently violent crimes.

Surprisingly, just 30% of crimes in India are digital, while 70% of thefts occur at homes.
Given that 61% of individuals don't want to upgrade to high tech safety for houses, this stresses the need for home safety to get the same amount of attention as that given to digital safety.
