Home (at Old Navy) for the Holidays
As I sipped my coffee this morning, I was feeling quite reflective. The weather is changing, the hustle and bustle of the retail world is kicking into high gear, and November is a month where I’ve historically gone through a lot of big life changes. I was engaged and married in November, and professionally it was the month when I started my initial journey with the Old Navy family. Three years ago this week, I received a chance LinkedIn message to grab coffee with an Old Navy recruiter, who has since become my colleague, thought partner, dear friend and on the tough days, my #workmom.
My experience with Old Navy has not only changed the course of my professional career, but my personal journey as well. The team members that started as colleagues, have become family. For many years, I had heard about Old Navy, the way that employees were treated here, and what a great place it was to work…but I always thought that the brand just had a really good marketing team (which is obviously true too!) When candidates ask why I’ve stayed for the past three years, my response is always the same.
The way that Old Navy is portrayed in the market, is exactly what it’s like when you put on your rockstar jeans and employee name badge. Yes, our stores are filled with tons of product…and, yes the pace is unlike any retailer out there…but the values and mission that we promote externally, all exist inside our four walls. Here, everyone is welcome and our employees are encouraged to just "be you!” As we head into the hectic holiday season, I am reflective and proud to be a member of this community. Our teams work hard. Really really hard. We push each other to the limits to deliver great product and a great customer experience. But we do it with heart.
From the very first moment that I interacted with the brand as a candidate, I felt at home. When I walk into our stores as a customer, I feel at home. I’m so grateful to be a member of this family, and to have the ability to be curious, and creative. This is my favorite time of year as a recruiter. We have the opportunity to start connecting with folks in the retail world to chat about what the next year can bring. There is so much exciting change for the Old Navy family coming in 2020 as we continue to grow, and I can’t wait to be part of it. #facesofoldnavy #oldnavystyle #oldnavyfamily
