Home for the Holiday- and all year round

The concepts of home and family are central to many holidays, especially Passover. For some Israelis, April was the first time extended families gathered together since October 7.?

Here’s how Yad Sarah helped bring together families and foster at-home holiday environments for the wounded, evacuated, elderly and other individuals in need:

Home for Passover:

Family reunited for Passover with the help of Yad Sarah

Against the backdrop of war, Yad Sarah helped thousands of Israelis in hospitals, rehab centers or ongoing care surroundings observe the holiday in the comfort of their homes and family. This included establishing 1,000 additional inpatient hospital rooms, providing transportation to 2,000 people with disabilities, and responding to a 48% surge in demand for at-home medical and rehabilitation equipment compared to last year.

Respiratory Relief on all Fronts:

When Iran’s attack on Israel raised concerns over possible power outages, Yad Sarah released a situational update informing the public of our available mobile oxygen apparatus. This year, we’ve responded to a 1,635% uptick in loans for mobile oxygen concentrators, so that even amid wartime, individuals can find comfort in their own homes.

Making an Impact with Spring Cleaning:

During Passover cleaning, many Israelis find sealed and unused medication. Throughout the month, Yad Sarah called upon the public to donate these medicines that can then be issued at no-cost through our adjunct community pharmacy.

Gearing Up for May Commemoration:

Walter Bingham, Holocaust survivor and the world's oldest living journalist

Yad Sarah is gearing up for Yom Hashoah, Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day), and Yom Haatzmaut (Independence Day). We are honored to have several Holocaust survivors among our volunteers and assist some 30,000 Shoah survivors in Israel each year; this includes Walter Bingham, the world’s oldest living journalist. As always, our volunteers will provide accessible transportation and wheelchair assistance to those attending the State Memorial Day Ceremony at Mt. Herzl and around the country.?

Learn how you can join us in enabling Israelis to lead fuller, richer, and more independent lives all year round.?
