The unassuming title on a small plaque to the right of the visitor’s entrance reads “United States Air Force Plant #6.” Inside the 8.6 million sft facility operated by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, 5,600 employees assemble the C-130J Super Hercules and several other aircraft. These giant workhorses undertake humanitarian, special operations, aerial refueling, firefighting, and search and rescue missions. A C-130 is airborne every hour of every day: 2,500 of them across 70 countries- each one built in Marietta GA.
