Home Based Care - Home Based Education
Dr Fergus Timmons
External Learning and Development Manager at The Alzheimer Society of Ireland
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland together with our partners in Belgium and Norway have completed our Home Based Care - Home Based Education Erasmus+ project. The project produced two 'intellectual outputs'. The first is an online course aimed at supporting family carers looking after a loved one with dementia. And the second is a quality framework user's guide which is aimed at organisations interested in delivering this course to their stakeholders.
The online course is available to view here. We are delighted to say that the course has been shortlisted for Best Online Distance Education Programme at the Learning Technologies Awards 2017.
As per the terms of the Erasmus+ grant, both intellectual outputs of the project must be shared as widely as possible. The online course is therefore an Open Educational Resource and can be shared and re-used using Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence.
The Quality Framework is available here .
An important part of the course is that it must be moderated and facilitated by a trained tutor. Organisations interested in delivering this social learning, participatory course to their stakeholders should do so through the Moodle learning management system. Organisations can download a free trial version of Moodle from Moodle Cloud here.
We hope you enjoy these resources!
