Holograms in Meetings: The Sci-Fi Dream Becoming Reality

Holograms in Meetings: The Sci-Fi Dream Becoming Reality

Remember those sci-fi movies we used to watch, where characters would have conversations with lifelike holograms? It seemed so futuristic, a distant dream only possible in the imaginative world of cinema. But as an AV engineer at Jabra, working with cutting-edge collaboration tools, I've seen firsthand how swiftly the lines between fantasy and reality can blur.

Yes, I'm talking about 3D holographic meetings. Although I haven't had the chance to experience one firsthand, the idea itself is fascinating. Imagine not just seeing your colleagues on a flat screen but witnessing their 3D projections, making interactions feel more tangible and real. The thought of observing depth, contours, and a more 'present' version of someone during a virtual meeting is honestly mind-boggling.

I can't help but think about the richness and depth this could add to our remote interactions. The nuances of body language, the subtle gestures, the feeling of 'being there' even when you're miles apart. I believe this could be a game-changer in bridging the subtle disconnect many of us feel during video calls.

Why I'm Excited About Holographic Displays in Meetings:

  1. Real Connection, Miles Apart: Ever worked on a team project remotely and wished you could just be "there"? Holographic displays are the closest we're getting. Imagine working on a 3D design with someone from another continent, feeling as if you're both in the same cozy room.
  2. Staying Glued In: We've all zoned out in those long video meetings. But with holographics, it's like stepping into a new world where presentations come alive. It's not just watching; it's experiencing.
  3. Saving Money, Gaining Memories: Yes, the setup might pinch the pocket at first. But think of all the flights you won't book and the paper you won't print. Plus, attendees will chat about that 'cool holographic meeting' for weeks!
  4. One Tool, Many Uses: These displays aren't a one-trick pony. From in-person events, hybrid seminars, to virtual brainstorming sessions, they fit right in. And let's not forget their potential in showcasing products or brand messages.
  5. That 'Wow' Factor: Hosting a client or leading a workshop? Bring out the holographics. It's not just about showing off new tech; it's about offering an experience that sticks.

Can't wait to see how these displays reshape our collaborative efforts at Jabra and beyond!

Of course, every new tech has its teething issues. And from what I gather, holographic tech is still in its early days. There might be glitches, and the experience might not be perfect right out of the gate. But if there's one thing our tech journey has shown us, it's that refinement is a continuous process.

In our increasingly remote world, feeling connected is more important than ever. As we stand on the brink of such a breakthrough, I'm excited and curious to see where it takes us.

How do you feel about it? Are you as eager as I am to experience a holographic meeting? Let's chat and imagine the possibilities together!
