HOLLYWOOD 2.0 is YOU!
We all want to connect make our dreams come true and break into the industry. For many that means getting an agent, a manager, being recognized by the establishment. That’s certainly one way to go. But with the democratization of filmmaking, is it really necessary to go this route in order to succeed (make a living with filmmaking)?
When we independents band together, there’s power in our connection. We help fund each other’s dreams, help market each other’s films, work on films together and push each other to the heights of our ability.
I love supporting other filmmakers. And I love others supporting me. Each time someone makes a beautiful film, wins an award, shares the joy they feel at making their dream come true, I feel like a little part of me has taken the journey with them. There’s a bit more spring in my step, confidence in my stride, and hope in my outlook for the future!
There’s crowdfunding, social media, grants, cheaper cameras, more education on how to make filmic hoe to write scripts and how to manage a production. Let’s band together not to compete but to truly build a powerful and creative network so that we have the opportunity to watch more than what Disney and Netflix puts out. (No offense to them as I enjoy some of their content) But we deserve more diverse, high quality, meaningful films that drive us to express ourselves, empathize with each other’s joys and struggles, build bridges between communities and increase our trust in each other.
They say Hollywood is a cut-throat industry. We don’t have to be. We lift each other up and make the act of making a film just as community-oriented as coming together to watch a film has always been.
Ok that’s my rant. Look forward to connect ??
