This time of year can create some beautiful memories. It's as simple as watching a favorite Christmas movie with your spouse. Baking cookies with the grandkids. And cherishing time together with folks you don't get to see as often as you'd like. But along with those beautiful memories, this time of year can also present a dizzying array of stress. So if all that marathon shopping, social gathering, and traveling has given you a mind-numbing headache, I have just the solution for you this eveningKeep tuned on to find out how to relieve that "holiday headache. Don't touch that painkiller. After wrapping all the gifts and preparing a delicious meal, you may be left with a whopper of a headache. But before you reach in your medicine cabinet for another painkiller let me fill you in on some troubling facts. Previous studies have found that taking over-the-counter drugs, like Advil, actually worsen your headache in both severity and frequency. The average headache sufferer takes more than the recommended amount of OTC drugs. And while it's understandable you want relief, and you want it now it can actually lead to a condition known as medication overuse headaches. This condition causes chronic headache sufferers to have additional medication headaches on top of their normal ones. At least that's how things used to go. But now, friend, the jig is up. You no longer need to suffer through another migraine because recent research has found drinking one cup of peppermint tea can relieve even the worst mind-numbing headache. peppermint tea opens up your blood vessels, offering fast pain relief. And not to mention, you can also avoid any negative side effects with this natural remedy. I recommend drinking a cup as soon as you feel a headache coming on. And for added relief, you can also rub some peppermint oil on your temples. A word of caution: peppermint oil can interact with some medicine, so talk to your doctor before trying it. You can find peppermint tea online or at your local store. And I recommend for a quality peppermint oil,

Holiday spice slashes blood sugar levels by 30% I hope this holiday season has brought you lots of joy and laughter with your family and friends. And, just because I'm a PT and I worry about your health, I'm going to ask that you take it easy on all the sweets today. look, around this time of year, I have plenty of people visiting me complaining about higher than normal blood sugar levels. Well, friend, all of that overindulgence can really do a number on your health. That's why I'm going to lend you a hand today. And show you how you can reduce your blood sugar levels by 30% all with traditional holiday spice. Cinnamon is a powerful weapon against diabetes. I'm talking about cinnamon. It's a highly prized spice that has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. Experts have used cinnamon to treat conditions such as: Arthritis. Bronchitis. Sore throats. Problems with the digestive system. And one of its biggest benefits of all is its powerful anti-diabetic effects! ate one to six grams of cinnamon for 40 days. And at the end, the cholesterol will cut by about 20%, and their blood sugar levels by 30%. The theory is, cinnamon works by decreasing the amount of glucose that enters your bloodstream after a meal which in turn, keeps blood sugar spikes after meals in check. What's more, a compound in cinnamon can mimic insulin and increase insulin sensitivity making it more efficient at moving glucose into cells, rather than the bloodstream. The most effective dose is typically 1-6 grams per day. You can include cinnamon in your diet by sprinkling it in your tea, coffee, shakes, or fruit juices. Or you can also use it as a flavoring agent while cooking. Just make sure to buy only Ceylon cinnamon it may be more difficult to find than the conventional cinnamon in the spice aisle but it's the one with potent anti-diabetic effects!

Happy new year's resolution! It is the most wonderful time of the year. But all of the stress. exhaustion and overindulgence in unhealthy food and alcohol create a dangerous combination for your heart. See, the holiday season is associated with a higher rate of heart attacks. In fact, has been labeled the riskiest day of the entire year!! But before you run to the closet pharmacy and pick up a bottle of aspirin, you need to hear about this natural approach to protecting your heart. The "berry" solution for your heart. You've probably heard of cranberries preventing the reoccurrence of UTIs. But you may not know this holiday berry also has potent heart-healing and drinking three glasses a day of cranberry juice can raise the amount of good cholesterol. By the end, we found this holiday berry increased levels of good cholesterol by an average of 10% when your good cholesterol levels are up your risk of heart disease goes down! Surprisingly, this berry has also been found to:

  • Lower the risk of certain types of cancer
  • Combat norovirus and other foodborne illnesses
  • Boost digestive health. And the best part? It's cheap!

You have plenty of options to add cranberries to your daily regimen: You can find cranberry juice at your local store. Or you can work raw cranberries into your diet all year long by adding them to any salad. You could also pick up a cranberry supplement at your local store. I recommend taking 400mg twice daily. If you opt for the juice, be sure it actually contains cranberry and no sugar. Because the sugar destroys any benefits you may experience.

The truth about cholesterol drugs And for all that potential risk, the drugs don't even touch on the real problem. It's not cholesterol by itself that's the issueIt's cholesterol oxidation that's truly dangerous. That's when smaller LDL particles react with free radicals, causing inflammation and tissue damage in the linings of your arteries. The result is an increased risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. So don't just blindly cut your LDL. Look instead for natural therapies that can help attack the oxidation starting with curcumin, the active ingredient in the spice turmeric. Curcumin can help lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol, preventing oxidation and suppressing the buildup of plaque in your arteries. LDL levels plummeted 40% in people taking 500 mg of curcumin for a week. Their total cholesterol dropped almost 12 points, and their HDL ("good") cholesterol climbed an impressive 30%. And 45 mg a day cut both LDL and total cholesterol levels in those with the acute coronary syndrome.  A few other supplements to consider for healthy cholesterol control include plant sterols, red yeast rice, garlic extract, Indian Gooseberry, omega 3s, apple extracts, and astaxanthin.

Reduce your risk of heart disease! "Diet, exercise, and take some pills" That's about the advice gives when it comes to lowering your risk of heart disease. Maybe that ploy works for some people but I like to be more exact with my clients. That's why I only share proven treatments and not some toxic drug or fad diet. Because the truth is, the secret to eliminating heart disease doesn't have to be some arduous process, or a "miracle" pill and its side effects. It can be as simple as eating more fish. Let me explain. The "fishy" way to protect your heart. By now, you understand how omega-3s are very beneficial for your health. In fact, this simple nutrient has been found to:

  1. Promote brain health
  2. Prevent cancer
  3. Reduce symptoms of metabolic syndrome – a collection of conditions
  4. Fight depression and anxiety
  5. Improve eye health
  6. Fight inflammation
  7. Boosting your omega-3 levels could also protect against heart disease.

To put it simply: Improving your levels of omega-3 increases your protection against heart disease! How to get omega-3's benefits? Our bodies are unable to make omega-3s, which means we have to get them from our diet. The best place to start is with marine sources like fatty fish. The general recommendation is three grams per day of fatty fish like salmon, sardines, mackerel, or anchovies. But since fish can get pricey or you may not like the taste you do have another option: omega-3 supplements. You can find omega-3 supplements just about anywhere. Just make sure to get them from a brand you trust, and take at least 840mg daily.
