Holiday Heroes Under Fire
This high holiday season, Yad Sarah volunteers have been true heroes, serving communities under rocket fire in the north and supporting the wounded.
Their dedication brings comfort and care to Israelis facing extraordinary challenges, ensuring the holidays remain a time of hope and resilience.
Read on for more about their incredible efforts.
Rinat Rider’s Courage in Action:
Rinat Rider, Yad Sarah’s Northern Region Manager, has tirelessly delivered essential equipment across branches amid rocket fire. While ducking for cover from an alarm, last month, she encountered an older woman trembling with fear, reciting the “Shema Yisrael” prayer. Rinat lay beside her, offering comfort with a shared prayer. Despite a missile falling just meters away, both were unharmed, and Rinat continued her mission to deliver life-saving equipment throughout the north.
Dedication on Dangerous Roads:
Volunteer driver, Yakov Farber was en route to bring Mrs. Sarah to her granddaughter's wedding when the October 1 ballistic missile attack from Iran forced them to take cover on the road. Yakov stayed calm and escorted her safely home to Holon, embodying the dedication Yad Sarah volunteers show daily.?
Bringing Sukkot Joy to the Wounded:
Over the Sukkot holiday, Yad Sarah transported two wounded soldiers from Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer to a concert for a break from rehabilitation. Volunteers Haim Neigo and Dan Manor made it possible, bringing joy on a holiday meant for celebration.
Ongoing Support Across Israel:
Despite a demanding holiday season and emergency efforts under fire, Yad Sarah has kept core services running nationwide. From fall prevention and equipment lending to legal assistance, our team is continuing to work around the clock. This month, we’ve also highlighted our Stillbirth Center for Wellness and Respite in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
As our volunteers continue their heroic work under challenging conditions, Yad Sarah remains dedicated to supporting the people of Israel.?
