Holiday Chaos
I recently wrote an article here about my sense of accomplishment at towing our little vintage dolly caravan, six hours across Ireland. It doesn’t actually take six hours to cross Ireland from East to West but when you’re only legally allowed to travel at 80km per hour, it takes longer than usual.
It was my first time to tow anything. We don’t talk about the failed attempt with the single axle trailer four years ago.
Well I'm back to tell you that my sense of pride was quickly overshadowed by one of the family cats, who pissed out of her litter tray onto my new awning, the morning after arrival.
Before those of you non-cat lovers chime in right about now, I urge you to instead hold off on your judgement and keep reading. There is a message - and it's not about how difficult it is to get the stench of cat pee out of things. You'll be teaching granny how to suck eggs because I've had cats now for nearly 20 years. I am all too familiar with the ups and downs of cat ownership.
Dirty Protests
Cue a similar dirty protest at her upheaval of routine, the following morning too. This time on my bed. Serves me right for trying to be nice to a feline diva by providing some quality petting-time. This resulted in not just the sleeping bag going in the precious €5 campsite wash (with nothing else!) but also two lots of seat cushions from the caravan on a separate wash, as she pissy-flicked her way out of my reach in my attempted to strangle her.
The third and final (day) episode of her ire involved again not using the litter tray (now in the bathroom) but instead standing in it and cocking her arse against the bathroom door so that her pissy perfume, seeped its way under and onto my kitchen floor because the place didn’t already resemble an alley between two pubs!
I Broke
I write with humour, however at the time this was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I almost packed them both off to a nearby cattery. Almost that is before the shuddering reality dawned that I'm nearly broke and so can’t afford to.
I've been dipping into savings for the past few months to try to push ahead with work needs. Everyone says you have to speculate to accumulate, right?! That’s all well and good when it’s there but when the outgoings outweigh the incomings, we are left with a dilemma.
In a massive drop of the ball, which for me practically never happens, I have no income queued for this month and have all the usual outgoings as well as the holiday that I had budgeted for but forgot to revisit in light of the above!
I am broke (not quite but it was a good follow up to the previous paragraph ;P)
Two cancelled education-related jobs meant I'd forgotten that particular annual staple of funds wasn't going to land in the bank this month. That was a jolt of realism so imposter syndrome, poverty mentality and downright anxiety crept in by the afternoon of day four and I had a snot-infused meltdown.
I slept on it, kicked into a panic-fuelled ‘must-make-money-fast’ mode and spent three hours the next day looking at all sorts of ridiculous 'swap-time-for-money' schemes.
None of which are my passion.
None of which will contribute to my business platform, client-base or even skillset.
All of which involved an awful lot of wasted time.
I ran away from home (the caravan and campsite), had a solo 'wallowing' lunch in the nearby village of gorgeous chowder, brown bread and lots of hot tea and came up with a plan.
My Solution
My own version of the '€99' thing. It’s actually only €35 (Stg£30) and is 90 mins of education and practical instruction for self-treatment using the complementary therapy, Holistic Reflexology.
How does that grab you?
Hopefully by the hand – be polite! - as that is the intention. Over one and a half hours I will teach you how to administer holistic reflexology to yourself via your own hands, on your own hands.
The workshop is The Holistic Parent Reflex and Reflect Workshop and involves three learning components which include practical instruction for self-treatment.

The areas covered this time around will be stress, the reflex points and how to reduce it; breathing, the reflex points and how to improve it and finally PMT and Menopause – prostate and testicular health for the lads, the reflex points to aid comfort, hormonal balance and general wellbeing.
The Details
The workshop takes place on Thursday August 11th at 7pm-8:30pm GMT. It is open to all, no previous knowledge or experience is necessary and is limited in numbers, simply to ensure I have time to give to all attendees in case additional instruction is needed.
As this is a ‘beta-workshop, the cost is just €35 which is great value for a 90 mins programme. It is also a great way to meet me in advance of availing of my two other in-person offers.
The Holistic Parent Signature Reflex and Reflect Individual session, which is a 90min Holistic Reflexology pamper session including exfoliation and mentoring for €100 and a standard 50-mins €65 in-person, mobile Holistic Reflexology treatment.
I spoke to some people in the local village and they have put up leaflets and shared about both on the local FB noticeboard. I’ve placed it on social media too and now I’m letting you know about it. I will continue to offer the online workshop and the two in-person treatments at home in Co. Meath too.
The online workshop is available to anyone in my networks for either their own networking groups or organisations or within their companies and businesses as a team-building workshop.
What do you think?
Are you onboard?
Have you booked in for the Thursday, August 11th workshop?
Are you willing to help this currently crisis-led, self-employed business owner get through August?
It is said “Necessity is the mother of invention.” In this instance, it may have been a feline with poor toileting habits and the threat of destitution. Either way, it got the brain working and I’ve managed to put together a pretty good offering albeit a little tangential to my usual work.
Join the Party
Join me via Zoom for my signature THP Reflex and Reflect learning session on Thursday evening next, August 11th at 7pm-8:30pm GMT (-5 East / -8 Pacific / +9 Aus/ +11 NZ).
Places are limited to 10. It costs €35 (Stg£30 / US$35 / AD$51 / NZ$57) and you register by email at [email protected]
I’m looking forward to seeing you then.
Sent with love,
Sinead
