"Music has seven letters, writing has twenty-six notes," is a quote from French essayist Joseph Joubert. As Christmas music begins to fill the air it's time to think about sending a personal note to your network.
Sending Thanksgiving, Holiday or Christmas cards this time of year is one of the best ways to connect with the people you've met throughout the year. It shows them that you care.
I am from the old school opting for cards with a handwritten personal note vs. the bulk email version of Christmas cards. And one can debate if it's better to use Season's Greetings or Merry Christmas. My opinion is to use whatever makes you feel comfortable or helps you express your gratitude with your audience. If you know French why not add an extra joyeux No?l while you're at it.
You will be amazed at the number of people who send a response to recognize the personal touch in your card. It takes only seconds to make a lifetime impression - it's worth the investment.
One thing for certain is that you can never go wrong reaching out to your professional network to share appreciation for their support and inspiration that you enjoyed throughout the year. And, I think you will be amazed at the amount of joy you receive by spreading some extra cheer this time of year. It will make 2018 even that much more special.
Wishing you all the best and continued success!
