Hold Your Tongue
Today's devotional is from A Daily Taste of Proverbs
“A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his tongue” - 11:12.
It's all too easy and cowardly to talk badly about someone when they aren't present. It's even easier to use social media to criticize or call out someone with whom you don't agree or who you don't like. It's much more difficult and requires more courage to talk directly to those people about a problem you're having with them.
Is it time you hold your tongue (or pen) where other people are concerned, unless it's to say something good about them? Do you need to confront someone about a situation you're carrying in your heart? Are you open to the fact that you may be the one with the problem and not them? This is a common human problem and even the psalmist addressed this tendency in Psalm 12 and Psalm 15:1-4.
