HoegTemp high-temperature heat pump commissioned at GE Healthcare

HoegTemp high-temperature heat pump commissioned at GE Healthcare

The big news is that our second HoegTemp? heat pump installation was commissioned in December 2024 at the GE Healthcare Lindesnes site in Norway. The heat pump is housed in a simple container installation with water, electricity and a steam line.

HoegTemp delivered to Pelagia

Enerin’s 400 kilowatt HoegTemp? heat pump has been delivered to the Pelagia fishmeal factory in Norway. This marks the third Enerin real life installation. The Enerin and Pelagia contract, with decision gates, involves an installed combined capacity of 1.6 megawatts steam at 5 and 8 barG pressure. The first stage is the 400 kW steam-producing heat pump that is due to be commissioned in March 2025.

We will soon unveil a picture of our heat pump from the Pelagia site.

Enerin and Circular Energy Systems secure €1.3 million Eurostars funding for industrial drying

Enerin and Circular Energy Systems (CES) have secured Eurostars and European Union co-funding of €1.3 million to develop and demonstrate a 200 kilowatt (kW) thermal power retrofittable drying system called CircleDRY coupled with a HoegTemp? high temperature heat pump (HTHP). CircleDRY aims to facilitate the industrial transition to electric drying with increased energy and resource efficiency and less carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The innovative CircleDRY drying system will be demonstrated at a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 8 at a household-name biscuit manufacturer for baking up to 250oC using Bühler tunnel ovens.

Enerin CEO Arne H?eg presents at the Industrial Heat Pump Conference in Prague

Enerin CEO, Arne H?eg, presented “The HoegTemp? – the simple system integration and interaction with thermal storages”. He highlighted the flexibility of the HoegTemp? heat pump Stirling cycle that delivers steam, hot water or thermal oil up to 250°C, from source temperatures as low as -30°C. Thermal energy storage is a vital link for the electrification of industry and buildings.

HoegTemp full-scale pilot at IVAR biogas plant

In November 2024 we celebrated one year of the HoegTemp? full-scale pilot installation in the biogas stream at the IVAR Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plant, commissioned in 2023. The site has drawn interest from research and industrial stakeholders. The results from the IVAR installation have been published and presented.

R3 HoegTemp heat pump designed for New York

We are delighted to share the render of our leaner R3 high-temperature heat pump that consists of one bank with three pistons. The great news is that the R3 is particularly suited to the specifications of the Empire Technology Prize because it is designed for buildings with heat demand that is less than 500 kW/1700 BTU/hr. Technically, the R3 should be able to provide heating for 16,000 square metres. It is compact, which means it needs less floor space.

The R3 is basically an Enerin V6 heat pump chopped in half. It inherits the technology maturity (TRL) and cost advantage of our V6, which means that economies of scale are reached much quicker with less financial risk. The R3 is also suitable for industrial or commercial projects that are too small for the V6 Enerin heat pump. Alternatively, a customer can have two R3 heat pumps which allows for less downtime when one is being serviced.

UL certification for the United States

The HoegTemp uses a reverse Stirling engine that utilises helium as the transfer fluid. Helium is compressed on the hot side and expanded on the cold side. Helium is safe, non-flammable, non-toxic, non-explosive and natural requiring no extra safety measures when commissioning. Enerin is in the process of assessing the certification procedure for the United States. We have been informed that a unique certification and testing of the HoegTemp Stirling engine is possible with a built demonstration site which means that the certifiers test and approve the heat pump on site.

New York tours

In the last quarter of 2024 Enerin CEO, Arne H?eg, and Enerin COO, Trond-Atle Asphjell, visited New York several times to meet key stakeholders in the quest to decarbonise buildings for New York, which is part of the Empire Technology Prize.

Trond-Atle was on the Proptech tour from 10-14 November 2024. A mini-summit was organised by the Royal Norwegian Consulate General where he presented. The tour participants visited the Battery Maritime Building, the Brooklyn Army Terminal and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, amongst other sites. Trond-Atle presented at the MEP/AEC session organised by The Clean Fight. In October, they were there for the ASHRAE Decarbonisation Conference where they met with potential demonstration partners.
