HMG Paints Nominated for Awards at BCF 2024 - Insights from Riverside Works
In this release of Tales from the Riverbank, we announce a double honour nomination at the BCF Awards 2024, showcasing our teams dedication to innovation within the coatings industry. Additionally, we will look to spotlight a variety of events throughout the month that will capture the dynamic and busy life at HMG.
On Thursday (25/07), the British Coatings Federation proudly announced the finalists that had been selected for the 2024 BCF Awards. With over 100 years within the coatings industry, the BCF Awards celebrate excellence and recognise innovation within the UK coatings industry. With a long-standing history within the awards, HMG have proudly been nominated for two awards at the event – showcasing our contributions to the industry.
HMG Paints were nominated for the following awards at the event:
HMG's nomination in the Customer Service SME Award is a first for the business, reflecting the hard work and the dedication of the team within HMG. This award comes in recognition of the Coating Specification Service, providing customers with the ideal coating that fits customer requirements and exceed customer expectations. HMG Paints have been nominated for this award alongside Anstey Wallpaper Co., and Thermaset, two very high-quality peers within the coatings industry.
Additionally, Isla Taylor – a key member of HMG's Research and Development Lab, has had an outstanding year within HMG, leading to her nomination for the Student of the Year Award! We are incredibly proud of Isla, who has been nominated for this award alongside Catherine Gibson of PPG Architectural Coatings and James Scullion of Tor Coatings. Isla's nomination highlights her hard work and excellent scores in exams and practical work when completing her training modules.
With event winners announced at the Awards dinner on Wednesday, 6th November 2024, HMG look forward to attending the event, celebrating and honouring outstanding achievements within the coatings industry alongside our peers. (See More )
Annual Company BBQ Held on Site at HMG
To celebrate the summer, disregarding the usual lack of sun we have in Manchester, HMG Staff gathered together this month for the company's annual BBQ! With everyone pitching in to help around the site, our staff barbeque displayed the close-knit, family-oriented nature of our business.
Gathering within the Despatch Department on site, spirits were high as everyone came together to enjoy a long time overdue get together – filled with delicious food and drink.
After a successful start to the year for the business, this annual event is a great chance for staff to get together, connect with one another and socialise. After the success of our latest barbeque, our staff at HMG will once again be hard at work, looking forward to gathering together once again – 2025 will be a big year for us at HMG Paints, celebrating our 95th anniversary, which is a sure guarantee for staff to celebrate. HMG Announce New Sub-Brand Alongside Innovative Hybrid Coating
This month saw the release of a new product under the HMG banner, showcasing the development of a new innovative coating – adding to our ever growing collection of paint formulations. Created with the metal fabrication marketplace in mind, the Hydrosol range is a completely new sub-brand developed by HMG Paints.
The first product in the launch of the Hydrosol range saw Hydrosol QD Primer, an alkyd-based, quick-drying primer, hit the marketplace. Marketing Manager at HMG Paddy Dyson described the new product as a "significant advancement in protective coatings, and a testament to the work done by our Research & Development team to bring innovations to the market."

First impressions on the launch of Hydrosol have been overwhelmingly positive. Early adopters of Hydrosol QD Primer are already identifying several benefits, including increased coverage compared to competitor products and improved efficiency in application.
We are already looking into the future of Hydrosol, displaying the future of the Hydrosol range with the combined announcement of Hydrosol Compliant DTM – set to launch later in the year. (Read More )
HMG Sponsored Event Raises Funds for Tackling Minds
In July, AS Blasting and Coatings Ltd held a charity fishing event to bring community members together for a day of fishing fun and giving back. This event was held to raise funds for Tackling Minds – offering support to people from all walks of life who are struggling with a range of issues such as mental and physical health conditions.
With a mission that we firmly believe in, the team at HMG have been very proud to sponsor this event, as we understand the importance of community within our industry – coming together to support one another for a great cause.
Showing a great turnout for the event, a sum of ￡4,363.82 was raised on the day, which paired amazingly with a great fishing event, with some great catches on the day. Representing HMG at the event was Tracey, who was able to bag a new personal best on the day, enjoying the weekend as a whole and was an incredible member for the cause. (View Video )
