HMG Paints Defence Coatings Team Attend DVD 2024 - Insights from Riverside Works
In this issue of Tales from the Riverbank, we discuss our time exhibiting at DVD 2024, featuring the defence team, a chance to win a remote control Challenger 2 tank and lots of other goodies. Moreover, we also talk about our celebrations as an independent family business during National Family Business Day 2024, which HMG used as a great opportunity to celebrate the success stories of our family business, as well as what makes family businesses across the UK unique.
Firstly, on Tuesday (17/09) the HMG Paints Defence Team travelled to UTAC Millbrook to take part in the DVD 2024 Event Show, in which HMG was notably featured at stand C3-819 with the aim of showcasing our wide range of coatings designed for the defence industry. The DVD event provided our team with the ideal platform to engage with industry professionals speak on specialised coatings.
During the event, we were excited to highlight our latest innovations within our range of defence coatings, particularly our 2-pack Polyurethane primer system, known for its exceptional durability in harsh environments. This coating, along with our broader portfolio of CARC and IRR coatings, generated strong interest from attendees.
Overall, we’re pleased with the event’s success. Our team looks forward to continuing to build relationships within the defence sector and participating in future events. (View Photos )
Independent Family Business HMG Paints Celebrate National Family Business Day
On September 19th, HMG looked to join in on the celebration of National Family Business Day, ran by Family Business United , by proudly highlighting our deep-rooted values, history, and commitment to the people within our business. As a family owned business, our heritage is something that we hold near to us, with a history tracing back 94 years as we began to produce paint in 1930.
On this day, the team at HMG looked to reflect on our journey from a small Manchester-based manufacturer to the UK's leading independent paint provider. With a focus on showcasing how being family owned continues to shape the company's culture each and every day, HMG produced a variety of social posts that displayed the invaluable contributions of a family run business. Driven by the same family values that have guided us from the beginning, we showcase the importance of strong relationships within our team as well as our commitment towards quality within paint and professional coatings.
Family Business United's Managing Director Paul Andrews mentioned "National Family Business Day is a vital opportunity to shine a light on the remarkable contributions of UK family firms. These businesses are the backbone of our economy and our communities, and their dedication and hard work deserve recognition."
"We celebrate the resilience and innovation of family businesses, and we are committed to supporting them in navigating their unique challenges. This day is a testament to their enduring legacy and an affirmation of their crucial role in our society and it is a fantastic day to celebrate their impact on the national economy too." HMG Paints Speak on the Latest Trends in Sustainability and Circularity - With DuoUK
This September, HMG Paint had the opportunity to travel to DuoUK to tour their top-quality packaging facilities. During our visit, HMG got an in-depth look at Duo's state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, looking around at the facilities used by the team at Duo UK to produce sustainable, high-performance packaging solutions.
This opportunity allowed both companies to exchange insights on sustainability, efficiency, and product development, focusing on environmentally friendly packaging options that align with HMG's commitment to reducing our environmental impact.
Speaking on how sustainability trends impact the work at HMG, Marketing Manager Stephen (Paddy) Dyson - MBA CMgr MCMI explained "Paint is an interesting and quite unusual product when it comes to sustainability. It must be one of the most observed, man-made products there is, but probably one of the least thought about, especially when it comes to thinking about the environment. You don’t see as much focus on paint and sustainability, as you do with other products that people come into daily contact with, like packaging.
“There is, however, a growing trend in water-based paints, which is being driven by sustainability. The basic premise here is that businesses are looking to move away from solvent-based paints to reduce environmental impact. There is a lot of merit to this, and it’s something HMG embraces during R&D – around 30% of our products are now water-based. Saying that there’s much more to consider when thinking about paint and sustainability. For some coatings, it can prove more sustainable to use a solvent-based solution.” (Read More )
