HMG Paints Announce "Official Paint Partner" Sponsorship With FC United of Manchester - Insights from Riverside Works
The latest release of Tales from the Riverbank spotlights a sports-focused August, featuring our exciting new paint partnership with FC United of Manchester. We were proud to travel to Broadhurst Park for North Manchester Day to mark this collaboration. Additionally, we’re delighted to share the success of our staff’s recent fundraising trip to Scotland in support of Francis House Children's Hospice, where they raised nearly ￡2,000 for the charity.
Firstly, on the 12th of August HMG officially announced the launch of our new partnership with FC United of Manchester , becoming the club’s “Official Paint Partner” for the football upcoming season. Through this partnership, HMG Paints will proudly supply our paints and protective coatings to Broadhurst Park, the home ground of FC United, and support various community projects run by the club.
FC United of Manchester is a supporter-owned, not-for-profit football club dedicated to providing affordable football. Founded in 2005 by Manchester United supporters, the club will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year and its 10th year at the Moston based ground. With FC United's pride in supporting the local community, this collaboration perfectly matches the club's commitment to affordable football and community engagement, and allowed us to showcase our Sport Venue Coatings, such as:
FC United’s Commercial Manager Paul Haworth explained “As a club, we are extremely proud to have Broadhurst Park as a?facility for fans and local people to use and?enjoy. We want to take care of it. Joining forces with HMG Paints allows us to ensure the stadium looks and remains in pristine condition. As you could imagine, our purpose-built 4,400 capacity home has quite a lot of paintwork, and we would have really struggled without the support of HMG Paints. They’ve been amazing.”

HMG Travel To Broadhurst Park for Sponsored North Manchester Day Match
As part of HMG's partnership with FC United of Manchester, the company sponsored the football clubs ‘North Manchester Day’ match on August 26th, offering free tickets all staff within the business, as well as all local residents in North Manchester.
Both teams were committed to making this event unforgettable for the community. In the lead-up to the match, FC United's club volunteers worked diligently, applying HMG's paint to various areas of the stadium, inside and out, ensuring the facilities were in top condition. On the day, as FC United v Ashton United kicked off, HMG Staff were welcomed with open arms as they travelled down to Broadhurst Park on a sunny bank holiday. With 2,005 fans attending the match on Monday (26/08) the event was a great success for both sides. Even though FC United were beaten 2-1 on the day, staff and residents got to experience a great match of football. HMG look forward to future developments of this partnership. (See Match Highlights)
HMG Members Take On Scotland’s North Coast 500
Looking to face a challenge this August, HMG Paints' Senior Quality Analyst Mark Roycroft and Maintenance Manager John Atkinson, looked to tackle a bike ride across North Coast 500, a route spanning over 500 miles across the Scottish Coasts.
Mark Roycroft looked forward to the scenery on route saying "Bringing together a route of just over 500 miles (516 to be exact…) of stunning coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, rugged mountains, remote fishing villages, hidden gems, and a wealth of unforgettable experiences; the NC500 is one of the world’s most beautiful road trips"
Over the course of 6-7 days, the duo embarked on their journey through Scotland with two goals in mind: completing the route and raising funds for Francis House Children's Hospice , a charity deeply connected to the Manchester community. They successfully achieved both objectives, finishing the route by the end of the month and raising nearly ￡2,000 for Francis House during the week. Donations to the charity are still coming in as of today (03/09).

HMG Paints Take Part in Second Annual Staff Golf Day
On Friday (30/08), Staff at HMG Paints participated in their second annual golf day as part of a Team Bonding Exercise outside of the paint factory. The event offered a great opportunity for colleagues in all departments to connect in a relaxed setting, enjoy friendly competition, and strengthen team relationships.
Taking place at Werneth Golf Club in Oldham, staff enjoyed a round of golf followed by a relaxed social gathering to kick off their weekend – with HMG's Joe Williams coming away from the event as the winner with a score of 39.
The event was a resounding success, showcasing both the competitive spirit and enjoyment of the staff. Speaking in regards to the golf day, HMG's Training Manager Neil Dawes said "The popularity of golf at HMG continues to grow every year, as more staff get caught up in the golf bug. Starting with 10 people, we are now up to 22 people regularly playing golf, we could see an even larger group next year too."
