CTV 'Upfront' Soars 35% To $6.41 Billion

Rapidly growing connected TV (CTV) ad revenues are expected to climb 35% to $6.41 billion this year -- from "upfront" sales -- and to rise another 35% to $8.14 billion in 2023, according to eMarketer's projections.

The DL: CTV ad revenues are expected to climb 35% to $6.41 billion from upfront sales this year and are expected to rise by 35% to $8.14 billion in 2023. Linear TV upfront sales were essentially flat. At a broader look, upfront digital spending including CTV is expected to rise 30% to $9.39 billion this year. CTV will comprise 70% of all upfront digital video ad spending. While digital buys are taking a greater share of the upfronts, the overall upfront TV total will not increase much because little digital video is committed upfront.

Brands will soon have more options for posting Instagram Reels to their accounts, and managing related activity, with Meta announcing that it’s?launching its Reels API for external use.

The DL: Instagram is getting more tools to?help brands post and manage their Instagram Reels. In addition, Meta is launching an API that will allow external users to use platforms like Sprout Social and Hootsuite to provide a single view of their analytics and cross-platform posting capabilities. This can help make it easier for brands to keep track of their various social media activities. The new API will allow brands to manage their Instagram Reels with a variety of features, such as content scheduling, moderation, and hashtag search. Although the exact details of the new features are still not available in the app, Instagram noted that the rollout of the API will begin with 25% of its users on June 28. By July 6, the feature will be fully accessible.
