HLI Rail and Rigging, Houston ?received two 385,000 lb. (175 MT) transformers at the Port Houston with discharge to SPMT trailers which then transported them to the rail sidings. We offloaded each transformer from the SPMTs to railcars and secured them in place.
After an inspection was completed, the transformers were moved by rail to a New Mexico rail siding where we offloaded them to multi-line trailers for transport over the road. The transformers were trucked to the project site back-to-back where we offloaded each by jack-n-slide method to their own transformer pads. The project took 25 days to rail the two units to a rail siding and 4 days for each unit to be transported and set to their pads.
