Also known as Nesite, Hittite is the most important of the extinct Indo-European languages of ancient Anatolia, older than Greek, Latin, or Sanskrit.?

It was the language of the Hittite Empire that ruled over vast parts of the Fertile Crescent and Asia Minor from (c. 4400-1180 BC). The Hittites are first associated with the 'Kingdom of Kussara' sometime prior to (1750 BC).

At the time a variation of cuneiform was used, among such the 'Hittite cuneiform' written on clay tablets. Linguistically, Hittite belongs to the Anatolian language group, which, is one of the twelve branches of the large Indo-European language family.

Within the Indo-European language family, Hittite is the oldest attested language and therefore of paramount importance for comparative Indo-European linguistics...
