Hit that reset button.
REAL TALK: Hitting rock bottom, being burnt-out or just plain over it. That was me 2 weeks ago. When Dan advised that the Stage 4 lockdown was going to be extended for 2 weeks, I wasn't surprised. I had actually been saying that it would be extended all along. But it really hit me. ANOTHER 2 weeks of failing at work, failing to look after a tornado of a toddler and failing to care for myself. I couldn't bare the thought. "Just CAN'T" were the words that I kept repeating in my head.
So what did I do? I took control. I got that permit (well made my husband get the childcare permit) so we could send our son to childcare and I took personal leave to look after myself.
I walked, I read a magazine, finished one book and started another 2, I painted and I made sure there was no agenda or deadline. To go with the flow and be present in the day was the only goal.
It was the reset button that I needed.
And what I have learnt this year has been mainly around self-awareness and how there isn't any 'one-size fits all' approach to wellbeing. What works for me may not work for others, but it has taken time to learn what does work and who the best people are to support you in different times. So I can only encourage you to be curious and say yes to learning something different because it may be that perfect thing that gives you the energy to be the best version of you.
So although I know we all see it everyday, but seriously. Be kind to yourself. You are important.
