Hey, imagine this: you’re staring at your screen.
I wonder how often this happens ;)
This time, imagine yourself staring at the screen, trying to crack a problem you’ve been stuck on for hours.
The cursor blinks, you take a sip of coffee, scroll through emails, maybe even change your document's font—but the idea just won’t come.
Now, what if I told you the best way to find a breakthrough is to step away?
That’s right.?
Our brain isn’t a machine—it’s more like a messy, creative, problem-solving sponge. And sometimes, that sponge must soak in something other than work to absorb fresh ideas.
Ever heard about, "The Power of Doing Nothing", that’s actually doing something.
Notice how your best ideas come - in the shower, while taking a walk, or while staring out the window. When we switch to autopilot—walking, doodling, even playing a game—our brain shifts from focused mode to diffused mode.
Focused Mode = Deep work, logical thinking, problem-solving.
Diffused Mode = Unstructured thinking, creativity, "Eureka!" moments.
When we’re stuck in the same routine, doing the same things, thinking the same way—our brain gets trapped in loops.
Step out of the mundane, and suddenly…
Next time you hit a mental block, don’t force it. Instead, try one of these
Change your environment – Work from a coffee shop, take your laptop outside, or move to a different corner of your room
Do a pointless activity – Play a game, sketch something random, build a Lego set
Move – Walk, stretch, dance. Physical movement triggers mental clarity
Shock your brain out of rigid thinking – Ask yourself: "How would we sit if the Ancient Egyptians didn't invent chairs?" or "What would I call Google if I had to rename it?"
The biggest breakthroughs don’t always come from working harder—they come from knowing when to hit pause.
So, go on, step away for a bit to break through – because great ideas don’t live in loops!
Use this Holi weekend to hit pause and then press play.
Have a bright, colourful, and joyous Holi!
