I have many clients, and when I start working with them, they go from one task to another.
They get to the end of the day and wonder where the day went and why they did not accomplish what they wanted to get done.
Many of them have high achiever strength. People with this strength tend to be hard workers who get a lot done. They like to check off the items on their list.?
They are frustrated at the end of the day because they did not get what they wanted or needed to get done.
They need to take reflection time during the day.
The best way to do this is to schedule it.
Here is an example of building selection time into your schedule.
Schedule time for planning at the beginning of your day. Reflect on what you want to accomplish.
List the seven most important things you need to do. Then, determine the three most important of the 7. After you have done that, pick the one thing that will make the most impact on the day. That is the main thing you need to accomplish. By doing it, you will have a successful day.
Schedule half-time. At midday, schedule a pause to reflect on how the morning went. Were you purposeful, or did you go from task to task without focusing on the most important things you needed to accomplish?
Make half-time adjustments. Determine what you need to do in the second half of the day.
Take time to reflect on your day. What were your wins?? What did you get done, and what didn't you get done??
You can ask yourself these three questions. What went well? What didn’t go as well as I would have liked? What am I going to do differently in the future?
I also recommend leaving the office to take some reflection time. You could go for a walk, to the cafeteria, or a coffee shop.?
Give this a try, and let me know how this works for you.?

2 个月Great share Jeff! I hope all is well with you and the family . Many blessings.
It's so easy to fall into the bad habit of allowing your work calendar to dictate your day, and attempt to power through without breaks. I love the points you make here on how to make those break times effective. I struggle myself to "turn off" all that's swirling around in my head when I take a pause. This suggestion to reflect on wins, opportunities and planning should be a lot easier to transition into.
