Did you know? Water sliding is more than 100 years old! An early ancestor of water slides was seen first in 1906 at the International Exhibition in New Zealand. Here people were sliding down fully dressed – in fashionable clothing at that time – into a lake with a boat.
We reached the next milestone in 1923: Herbert Sellner, who made furniture and toys, had designed a wooden sledge that arrived in a lake. If someone has landed at high speed, they could slide for 30 metres on the water!
And from 1926, we have an exciting video: The Water Toboggan.
Water parks, in their modern shape, were first introduced from the 1960s to the 80s. For example, the largest indoor waterpark with 19?000 square metres is the World Waterpark in Canada, which opened in 1985.
Looking back on our home country, Hungary's history, we can find this photo from 1924 of a slide launching people in a pool. Hungary's first water slide park was the Hungarospa, built-in 2000. Since then, even our team has added some beautiful slides to the facility.
