Are you building a relationship with the next generation? If not you might get started soon before it's too late. Here are some key points to get you on your way.

Individuality: Millennials crave individuality so recognize it and celebrate it. If you've used something that has worked in the past throw it away and start anew. They will thank you for it later. Think UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE.

Be a GUIDE: Information and research are at the fingertips of this generation, so make sure the information about your product/service easy to reach and read quickly for them. Do your homework on what drives their interests and motivations. And, please be authentic. This group knows all the tricks and gimmicks of traditional marketing and advertising.

Manage: Manage expectations and reputations UPFRONT. Don't wait. Social media and texting are the new word of mouth and move at lightning fast speed. If you don't have a strategy to use Social Media to bend perception in your direction then you are already late to the game.

With the drastic changes in demographics that are coming, Millennials pose a big risk to many industries particularly to golf. But there is a reward, too, if played skillfully and aggressively. Have you thought deeply about what it means to be a Member of the Club and if that is even relevant to the next generation? What happens to revenue as your membership ages and and no longer utilizes the Club? Do you have a strategy to back-fill Membership or will you wait and see? How will you stay relevant to the next generation?
