History on Rotation

Each time I look back at some of the historical happenings, it reminds me of how how stubborn society can be.

There was once a young Hungarian medical doctor who made a smart suggestion that would save lives. He had no theory that could back up his brilliant but seemingly stupid idea, so his peers and leaders did not take him serious. Instead, he was asked to shut up and get back to doing what he was told.

This doctor noticed that if women came to deliver their babies at the hospital, they died; their chances of surviving a delivery was very slim. This tendency soon became well known and people started avoiding hospitals. It soon turned out women were safer having their babies in the streets that in the hospital.

The doctor finally got a chance to try out his suggestion, and immediately the death of delivery mothers in the hospitals dropped. Hurrah, you think his peers and leaders would be impressed and incorporate this new suggestion into their practice. For at least, they won’t loose innocent lives. Well, they of course did not.

Rather, they unilaterally decided the young doctor was insane and suffering from a mental disorder; a disorder with a very strange name you know for sure it’s something only twisted allopaths could come up with such a name. (Kudos the the good allopaths out there ).

They got the doctor well beaten and locked into a mental facility. The beatings gave him wounds, and he would later die of bacterial infection, exactly what he was fighting to save these delivery women from.

It will take 70 years for the dead doctors′ suggestion of hand washing before an operation to be incorporated as standard of care in medical practice. Meanwhile, millions of delivery mothers and babies died. Thought leaders in the field felt insulted and mediocre by the mare idea of hand-washing mingling with outstanding IQ-demanding practices of medicine such as surgery.

The incorporation of hand-washing was only possible due to grassroot pressure and direct economic loss by medicine. But atlas the practice became a standard. Hand-washing, just a few ridiculous minutes of hand-washing.

Now let’s repeat the whole story. This time with healthy foods and plants as medicine, meat, fish and good vegetables threatening drug pushers and disease practicing institutions.

The human rhetoric is an interesting one.
